Actually, the mid-level resistance is currently 174 (to my eye) trending down to 164 by end July. Convergence of mid-level with support by September at which point that resistance vanishes. I would expect the breakout movement well before then and it will be signalled by the price exceeding 142.4. High level target is currently at 260 trending down to 240 around September. Dunno if you paid any attention to the FTSE Chart links I posted in Premium. If you look at that link and switch to the first chart shown, you will see the blue trend target movement on the FTSE was achieved this morning. To my eye, it bodes well for the market during the football matches in the next few weeks. In some ways, I was prepped for the red trend line as it produces a really exciting 2011 whereas the blue trend - whilst very good this year - gets pretty vile in 2011. What a day it's been with BP. Logical movement after logical movement all morning.

Looks like the clock is ticking. The short term resistance at 142.4 looks like being the trigger to be pulled prior to substantial movement. I note the short term support is currently 132 and trending gently upwards.

Whilst it is easy to ignore Inch, if it closes above 289 within the next couple of days and has an acceptable spread, it may be interesting as a short term punt. The underlying trend remains up. Currently.

Decided to actually take the time to look at this one. From trending analysis, it looks sane at first glance - a definate climbing channel from start of April which culminates in an upper resistance of 41.75. Given the spread, I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole though as I guess the MM's do the same sums I do.

Inchcape was mentioned as being in breakout territory in my (late - was doing rescue boat duty tonight) analysis. If standard movements are followed, it will therefore go down tomorrow before rising further. Target price is given as 347... I haven't checked its chart. Others mentioned were SSV and PDC along with SSV Market trend for the FTSE suggests an UP day with positive movement in the oil sector, along with insurances. After Rockhoppers fun and games, guess the oil sector is due a break.

I wasn't in it either but that was fascinating. What would now concern me (and cause me to open a short on DES) is that it has now established a new bottom support. If you recall that Thursday night when the DOW fell off a cliff and sorta recovered, the market eventually slavishly followed the new trend downward. I suspect similar will happen to RKH and DES during the next few weeks. I commented on ViY earlier about looking forward to the World Cup. Hopefully, it will serve to keep Icelandic Banks & volcano's, Greece, Spain, US oil leaks, and Andorra out of the news and give us a chance for the market to perform without hysteria. (I have zero interest in football)

I noticed you enjoyed my foray into 'pratt-dom' on ViY tonight. I hate the damage rating agencies can do to a perfectly working algorythm. <grin>

I'd two shares mentioned in my end of day run where the SP has exceeded the logical resistance line. This one and another called AUL. I have noticed that when this resistance is beaten, invariably the next share movement tends to be back down to it giving an entry point. More encouragingly, 3 shares on the FTSE 100 have finally moved above there 5, 8, and 16 day moving averages. III - resistance at 290.4 EXPN resist @ 625.5 SVT resist @ 1200

One thing that has been unsettling me has been the inability to draw trend lines to figure out where the market is going. So.... going back to 2003 and extending a line from the bottoms of 03 and 09 and doing the same with the highs of 07 and 2010 and we see a logical convergence point. Then I bunged a fib onto the result and voila, a trend is shown. We're in the situation where the triangle shown will have 3 points of contact before the trend is broken. FTSE should open tomorrow at around 5050. Now the US has finished, it's possible... Maybe

Thanks - just had a look at your comment. The drop through the 250day MA is really a bit scary - maybe. It would be wonderful to be in March 09 or July 09 or even Feb 2010's bottom position just now. I do suspect this Korean thing needs to be calmed down as both sides have nuclear weapons (effectively) I notice the DOW has currently dropped through the 250 day and bounced back. Just wish I could understand everything I'm seeing as my end of day results were an inconclusive nothing.

Lloyds long term support line is currently at 48.3 and resistance 80p. Support line is from low Jan 2009 through the other lows since then including Feb 2010. If it drops through that support, it's going totally off-trend and, I suspect, so will the rest of the market. No alerts for tonight - I'd a total of 8 share movements seen as significant on the FTSE All Share but seen against the rest of the shambles which was today, not worth commenting on.

If tomorrow is going to show any real recovery, the DOW needs to close around 9916 tonight. So lets see how big an idiot I look in just 4 hours... <grin>

I'm guessing the threat of a war in Korea isn't good for the markets...

Now looks like an open of 5040 or so judging by what happened in US in the last 20 minutes of trading. Looks like Lloyds are going to start quite poorly on Tuesday. That was amazing - not as bad as the spikey Thursday but it did look like automated trades kicking in for some reason.
