RE: NPA competition?14 Feb 2021 22:37
Hi Strangy - I see your point regarding the locational differences, especially with SUP being in proximity to the wetlands and protected nature reserves. I didn’t think of it like that. That makes sense regarding the EP. It was more to do with the Intellectual Property (IP) rights of the pellet. The SAE/N+P JV (NPA Fuels LTD) provides ownership of the IP of subcoal PAF, which as you know is a 50% biomass 50% in unrecyclable plastic waste specially formed into a pellet but the WKE pellet does seem to have quite similar properties?:
“ Waste Knot Pellets - Using biomass (such as fibre, packaging, and woody material) from Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste streams, as well as non-recyclable, low chlorine content plastics, we are able to produce a fuel that offers significant advantages in terms of both energy costs and environmental impact compared to traditional alternatives.
Our standard pellet specification is shown in the table here. Subject to the volume required, we are able to vary the specification – increasing, for example, the biomass or plastic content. Due to the low cost per tonne and high energy content, the price per Gigajoule (GJ) is significantly lower than for traditional fuels.”
