That's because Wolverhampton is so close to Birmingham and the opening date was only announced 3 days before the actual opening. Liverpool is out on a limb and it seems is not in a viable position

Ive heard they have been told not to open anymore branches and Liverpool will not be opening.

What is going on with the dalyed opening of Metro Liverpool. Due to open 5th Dec but last minute all opening celebrations cancelled, does anyone know why or when new date if any. Cheers

I disagree, in METROS case they have to pay a higher rate on the MM so why do that when they can pay their depositors a better rate than their competitors

I have moved my main account from Lloyds to Metro and find them excellent. To improve profits they now need to sell packaged accounts, travel ins etc , this is where the increased profits come from, as long as they sell the account in the right way, ( no more mis- selling episodes ).
The profits from their safe deposit boxes is excellent and they offer top rate 1.85% on 1YR bond< the public should try and find a better deal elsewhere, they cant

With Metro the profit generation to cover the branch running costs is raised via the rentals from safe deposit boxes< with an average of 1800 in each branch with say 50% rented out , this more than covers branch running costs.
Also no other bank in the UK has this income stream because boxes are not available elsewhere to this extent.
Look at London safe deposit centres, they just do that as a business and make very good profits
Yes , think Metro have got it right, maybe should not spend as much on interior design of new branche,s but I think it will fly
