RE: Mornin all whas hapnin post brexit?24 Jun 2019 12:59
Now is as good time as ever. Now always is if you are thinking of investing. The sp is 'depressed' If you are thinking of selling within a few months then, no. It may well get cheaper, it may not. Liklihood is it will meander until Brexit. As nobody seems to have the faintest idea how Brexit will effect the economy, because after 3 years of negotiation we still don't have a clue what the terms are, it is impossible to predict. It could be ok . Our trade secretary was pleased to announce he has secured 10 top trade deals with counties such as the Faroe Isles. Wow! Could buy a few and top up later whether up or down. Good to get a mix of shares. Nothing is 'safe' anymore and all carry 'risk', but Lloyds is still mostly government owned, reasonable dividend. Banks have had their wings clipped. Lloyds bought a packet of trouble in Hbos which still haunts. After ten years one would have thought the air would have cleared. If Blanc had not done Brown the favour of blindly buying HBOS the sp would probably be 3 or 4 times what it is today, or the whole finance system may have collapsed. Hard to see it as anything but a huge drag. It could help momentum eventually but going to be slow progress as it is for all banks. So it depends what you are looking for. A slow burner with better income than savings account, tick . Quick buck? definitely not.
