Same question from me. Were Softbank the ones lending out their shares to try and gain an income? If so then that source has just ceased. Wouldn't take much either for QIA to lift the price and to show an instant profit on this purchase. Probably already buying.

Pound seems to be up against the Dollar at the moment, so a favourable reaction thus far.

It's what the baying herd of journalist and political commentators have been after so hopefully it should see the FTSE back up to 7200 to 7400 in due course. That's where it was prior to the mini budget.

If Truss and Hunt have any sense they sit relatively quiet for a couple of weeks until the end of October and announce and about turns with the OBR.

In the meantime let Bailey take the heat for increasing interest rates which has always been his and the Monetary Policy Committees decision and role.
