It might have something to do with the fact that Tesco turn over an eye watering 52 billion quid a year and only scrape 1 billion in profit. Tesco are one recession away from disaster IMO.

PD calculations are mostly smoke and mirrors. They're not even based on real money. Most people see the headline figure and believe the 'deficit' is an outstanding liability. It isn't. It represents the present value of all FUTURE liabilities minus the CURRENT (market) value of all pension fund assets. A pension deficit is no more than a hypothetical estimation.
