is different from MTC,HoF& CPR in that we are not in a need of a rescue plan and do not have to go to the shareholders to get a deal with the landlords passed by votes etc.
As announced we are already in discussions with our landlord and the selling of some assets, so we could get an RNS at any times saying we have done 1 or more deals, and then the sp will rocket.
So it's a real gamble for any shorter at the moment because they know that at any time good news will push up the sp and push them into a loss.
Time to go long now IMO

Sorry I disagree, many of these large shops and shopping centers are owned by big insurance companies and then they are farmed out to property companies etc who take care of the rents etc.

There is nothing stopping debs moving from 1 landlord to another if the shops are available, and that doesn't mean shutting up shop.If they are confident then they can discuss new 5- 10 -20 year leases at reduced rents.
Most of these large shop units are owned by big insurance companies etc and they want long term agreements at any cost for pension planning.

Just maybe they have some shops where the lease is just coming up for re-newal on price etc and there must still be plenty of old empty BHS shops around that could be used instead.?
All this must come up for discussion.

This is new as far as I know ( and continuing constructive discussions with landlords),
so they are also looking to reduce rent costs like other retailers, that could be a big benefit to the bottom line if it comes off.
I guess that if the landlords don't agree some rent reductions then Debs might consider some store closes to push them into a corner. just like CPR / MTC and more.

It looks like they are doing what's needed at this stage of the game, and it showsthe city they are in control and NOT the shorter's. At least the sp stopped going down at the moment.
So we will see how it plays out.

It sound to me like a number of the shorter's on here just don't want to believe debs will survive and will rubish all the information that will push the sp higher. You guys must be really locked into some serious short positions that you know how to run debs better than the bod's.
If the bod's have a plan that the city like the sp will be going up.better close your shorts now.

Goodness buys at 75p, that's the highest we have been for a few months. Keep it coming.

So it looks like the bod's were serious about selling some assets to bring down debt, if this sales comes off at £200m
with an agreement by Oct that takes away all the worry about going under and the sp should go back up to say 50p-60p.
Also if HoF does go under that will also G/Tee our future, but unfortunate for HoF and it's people.

You certainly sound like a doomster at times, but there is light at the end of the tunnel you just have to have big long range glasses.

Becasue the Chinese investor is not going to put his extra £70m into the deal until all the land lords have agreed to the rent deal, but some / many are now taking thie to court because they say they never agreed to it and have had their hands bound.
So if they do not agree in the end HoF could well go into admin, but it all might still be a bit of bluff here and there.Certainly SD has made life more difficult and court the chinesse guy off balance at the moment.

If house of Frazer goes under in a few months /weeks then SD can then write off his 11% holding value against next years SD numbers and save even more tax.

When you think about it MA (SD) wrote off £85M loss for debs off the balance sheet of SD but when you think what he saved against tax what about 40% so £34m saved , not that means in effect he has the debs 29% holding now for nothing.
So he could buy debs and those few HOF stores and put them together and make a great business.

So very interesting, SD owns approx 11% of HOF and 29% of Debs.
He has already writtern off £85m from Debs but just how much is his stake in HOF worth.
If he puts more money into HOF to safeguard that will that then put more pressure on Debs to survive.Or does he use the same money his thinking of putting into HOF to buy outright debs.
Which gives him the best outcome ? Fight !
