RE: Something is missing on this board12 Dec 2020 11:49
Morning grace
I just typed a long message and the page went blank:((
I think it’s this site not my devices?
So I shall type as an email and cut and paste it...
I’m not trying to release my pension as that cannot be done until I’m 55, however I am trying to transfer from a “defined benefit pension” (final salary) to another pension, due to the transfer value being at an all time high, this is because the interest rates are at an all time low, the trustees of these pensions are concerned they won’t have enough money in the pot to pay scheme members, they are offering close to 40 times what my pension yearly payment will be
A DB pension pays a percentage of your final salary for every year you were a member of the scheme as an “index linked” payment guaranteed for life 50% payable upon death to your spouse, if I move the pension I have control and I can leave all unused money to my kids/wife :)
I want to move said pension to a Sipp to invest how I choose, I intended to diversify, Gold will be on the list and so will Val :) I will be careful
Now quite rightly the government have put in measures to stop people from giving up their guaranteed pension and then loosing it all, so they have made it law you need to see a financial advisor if your pot is over 30k
So simple, see an advisor job done.......nope!
The government have made the FCA tighten the rules so much that it almost impossible to get an advisor to help you, however on my 37th yes 37th try I have found someone to give me the advice at great expense :(
Sorry I’m rambling, anyway I’m about to have brunch then off out for a wander :)
Cheers
OB
