RE: OT - Silver Retail Sites Grind to Halt as Reddit Horde Moves to Coins31 Jan 2021 21:31
You pay vat on all new silver coins or bars, bars are cheaper to buy, but are subject to CGT when you sell...
Uk coins such as Britannia’s are CGT exempt as they are legal tender...
Non uk coins are also subject to CGT
If you use chards is possible to purchase second hand silver under the special vat scheme, you only pay vat on the premium over the spot price..
Gold is vat exempt, and uk legal tender coins are CGT exempt, however bars and foreign coins are not...
So best silver to buy IMO is special scheme Britannia coins........ but they sell very fast indeed!
