Captain Sensible etc have only one thing in mind ie that is shorting the shares ! Some gullible ones would fall for the nonsense they spew others would avoid the rubbish they offer. Expect more from folks like these going forward.
They would try harder than b4 in the coming weeks and month.
Thanks for this Keith. You would remember that I mentioned the Helium angle last year when talking about the find in Zim by IVZ with helium . Thanks for talking about it here. MEM would remember this too.
at the same presentation , pg did appear to mention a prospective acreage in the west african margin as he put it. my suspicion is that he is also playing or considering playing the conjugate game that's currently being played by the likes of ceg etc. now looking back to his time at fastnet oil and gas, he had a sort of farm out with kosmos regarding the foum assaka prospect. as things went then , pg wasn't given enough freedom to ensure that a discovery could be made by the senior partner in the arrangement hence the result was a duster which you could tell greatly pained him . the seminars he presented post that drill showed it. kosmos then decided not to drill a second well and went off. could pg be thinking of revisiting foum assaka?
going by recent discoveries, were this sort of thing to be embarked on, the results if successful could be great , given what recent findings in namibia , guyana etc have come up with. ceg's chevron deal is one major kick **** deal, could we be looking at similar on here?
Has to flow first mate.
I heard the mention of 7tcf but thought I heard something else. It basically was a shock to hear that drop outta the mouth of the most conservative person in the oil business!
While formation damage is a challenge, it doesn’t necessarily mean the end for a gas well. Operators take several steps to mitigate it:
Optimized Fluids: Carefully select drilling and completion fluids to minimize damage.
Reservoir Modeling: Understand the reservoir’s properties and tailor operations accordingly.
Stimulation Techniques: Use acidizing, hydraulic fracturing, or other methods to enhance permeability.
Well Cleanouts: Periodic well cleanouts can remove accumulated damage.
Production Optimization: Adjust production rates and drawdown to minimize skin effects1.
Case-by-Case Basis:
The severity of formation damage varies. Some wells may experience minor skin effects, while others face more significant challenges.
Skilled engineers assess each situation and decide on appropriate actions.
In extreme cases, if the damage is irreversible or economically unviable to mitigate, operators might consider abandoning the well.
In summary, formation damage doesn’t automatically mean the end for a gas well. Proper management, monitoring, and intervention can help maintain well productivity despite the challenges posed by formation damage12.
Still not a bad price considering the total outlay to get to that sort of valuation.
I gather that 1 tcf retails for $9b. On that basis we are going to be in a good place if we could pull it off!
Hi Keith,
The post MEM referred to was one I put up here on a very boring Sunday. The company I was referring to made the Mukuyu discovery in Zim and as an Aussie listed company I am sure you know them .
They did confirm Helium in their discovery but thx for pointing out that such wasn't found on our acreage , truth however is that I have heard such referred to as being found on our block as some sort of light hearted talk which I did point out in that short story I came up with on Sunday.
Was just reading about the Taroom trough and Neil Young's recent miracle on there while surrounded by some major boys and was thinking you Aussie's are champions at this Hydrocarbon discovery games and it's great to have you and your great contributions on here.
Relinquishment was done because it was the original agreement, not done to save cost! It's the practice in oil and Gas, GKP did the same at Shaikan!
I have this weekend been going over reports of drilling in another part of Africa, where a giant field has just been discovered. This new field is about 1011sqkm , in comparison to ours which is like 7000sqkm . Ours is approximately 7 times the size of this field .
The point I am trying to put across is that this field like ours is highly pressurised and after a few drills and more to come, its owners have actually gone to project that the field it appears holds about 20tcf of gas and probably another 5.5b barells of oil.
I am not saying our Guercif because of it's size would hold >20tcf that the company in Africa appears to be projecting but this is just a guide to what we might be sitting on with very little info out there in term of resource estimates. Y'all know what 20*7 might equate to without talking about the oil content.
One main thing this field has in common with our Guercif is the highly pressurised nature but one thing it doesn't have in common with Guercif is that it is too far from any kind of existent infrastructure. This field has also been discovered to have Helium in commercial quantities on a very large scale and who knows, there is probably a chance that our der old Guercif could be hiding some Helium in its bowels that was jokingly mentioned a while back but that possibility was laughed off, the fact that it was even raised at all could mean there was some evidence of it lurking somewhere on our field.
Helium , boys and girls sells for about/around 100x the price of natural gas. If 2+2 = 4 baring any sort of fantasy mathematics, could we be sitting on a field with 140Tcf in its bowels?
Have a great rest of the weekend y'all and please limit your fantasies to those that won't induce wet dreams ie the type Nigel has been unable to wake up from ie in terms of negativity for your investment while pretending to be a major oil and gas analyst for Tesco Plc! :)
Minister Eamon won't like these recommendations one bit! :)
Going by the Chevron /Hess acquisition story, my conclusion is that there is a lot of life left in M&A activity where oil companies are concerned . $120bn in a space of two weeks!
The figure of £10 you have mentioned sounds great, however this fractured or no fractured reservoir rocks thing makes me wonder how massive the whole thing would be as alluded to by an earlier poster who is one of my favourites on here where posting factual things are concerned.
Exxon just paid $60b for a shale producer! We are conventional by the look of things and located near a pipeline delivering gas to Europe. But then WTFDIK?
Wondering which cut price business school you attended! Must be low priced and they turn out low quality products!
In front of the scenes, let's also hope we get the same result post testing as that is what matters!

I suspect they haven't told the full story of MOU4 yet. A reentry might be needed to tell it. Stay tuned folks and you most likely would be pleasantly surprised! Remember what Caterham 7 said?
If drill is still at MOU4, it means we are keeping it for further drilling so in that case I expect MOU5 would probably be drilled soon or it would spud at about the same time the testing starts. These boys are then gonna have all manner of results to report in the run up to xmas thereby ensuring that , whether you like it or not you would have a merry xmas!
