RE: Is being friends with a chairman19 Dec 2017 17:06
I don't normally have to explain the self-evident to you zumore (unlike your numerically-challenged side-kick!), but wouldn't you think it a bit weird for investors in a company not to be supportive of that company? And unless you are going thru a messy divorce and need to blow assets so The Other Half doesn't get them, the idea of investing is to make money.
I appreciate that we often vary in our opinions on RRR and RGM, which is fine - there needs to be two sides to every trade in a stock market and if I wanted mindless consensus I'd go somewhere that involved a lot of clapping and tambourines. As such, you do need to accept that not all the world shares your own viewpoint on these companies, and (unlike yourself) those people are backing their opinion and viewpoint with their own risk capital. Generally "putting one's money where one's mouth is" should generate a degree of respect for their convictions.
Equally, if someone comes out and says "I don't like this company and I have taken a short position in it" I pay attention to that.
