I think its clear that with oil prices as they are, there is little upside remaining in us production.

So, higher prices are likely the result. There is a lag in information, and thats now coming to the forefront.

Moving into the next 3 years shale has a major issue with debt repayments somewhere in the region of 50billion / year.

Potential buyers of Zama are not thinking about todays oil price. They are looking at forecasts leading out for 15 years.

Its no secret the wells are producing more but i thought it had no impact on eur. It means initiall flows are better but they taper off quicker which may be why the production has steadied and not fallen with rig loss.

Thats simply untrue. Average BE is 60 according to Art Berman. This tallies with the losses accrued last quarter. Only 4 from 20 pure shales he monitors had FCF. 1 of those because it drilled less so lower capex and reduced guidance and another which sold leases. So 2 made a bit of money maybe through better hedging.

Shale needs wti above 65 to generate cash although additional pipelines will reduce transport costs going forward but not so sugnificantly.

Its playing the hurricane effect. But in reality theb prices are being kept below 60 while there is a danger of war

Probably correct but the most revealing thing to focus attention is the latest articles from wallstreet which shows a marked increase in bankruptcy within the patch that will become more visible in 2020/21 with 121billion of debt due. This is against a backdrop of oilprices roughly 2 times higher than 2015/16 lows.

One figure quoted recently was 41 shale companies combined had FCF of 141million us in qtr 2. PMO, a minnow by contrast to that combined production volume generated almost 200million fcf on 84kboed.

Something very wrong with the math of shale. Maybe it will be more productive and even profitable with the majors but one wonders if they will leverage the shale to maximize the profits in conventionals.
