Whoops, coal is the 2nd biggest source of energy in the world, not the 1st.

There are reasons the principal source of energy in the world remains coal: it is expensive to rely upon a source of energy which is inherently unreliable.

The UK's annual constraint costs are expected to rise from around £2bn per year to around £8bn per year by 2030 ... (EPP's RNS of 21/10).

It's very expensive to have to maintain alternative sources of energy for when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. If I remember right, EPP spoke of a forecast £8bn year by 2030.

The government needs to find a means to store the energy generated by the wind farms it seeks to encourage.

For your information, there is an interview recently posted on the ANGS board with the company's interim chairman, Krysztof Zielicki, in which he speaks enthusiastically of the possibilities offered by green hydrogen to their Saltfleetby gas field.
