Interesting article in The Times on page 16 which concludes by saying the government is "pushing through plans for longer-term storage".
"British electricity is very expensive. In the US in 2023 a kilowatt hour of industrial electricity cost about 6.5p. In Sweden, according to recent UK governmental comparisons, it was 8p. France was 18p. Here, it was almost 26p ..."
Highlights the idiosyncrasies of the British system with, inter alia, wholesale electricity prices dependent upon fossil fuel for 98%, as in Poland (100% in Estonia and the Netherlands; Germany: 72%; France: 7%).
