Ralph Nader built a name for himself in defense of American consumers. His book “Unsafe at Any Speed” is famous for having killed the Chevrolet Corvair. However, it goes way beyond that: it discusses the resistance of American automakers to adopting safety devices in their cars back in the 1960s. Sixty years later, the safety advocate gets back to the theme by urging the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) “to order that the FSD technology be removed in every Tesla.”

I know someone who can assist with this…
The circumstances suggest the Model Y driver got distracted, which is something that can happen with overreliance on Autopilot. In other words, they may have activated the ADAS and forgotten about monitoring the road. There is no word about road conditions or fog, which could have made it more challenging to see the motorcycle on the HOV lane.
I believe we can ‘see’ a journalist who has really done his research…
If Tesla is so advanced, why didn't it install breathalyzers in their cars' ventilation systems to stop the vehicles and prevent a drunk driver from skidding off the road? Why didn't they install sensors to "see" if the driver was taking a nap at the wheel from the beginning? Because Tesla didn't care about that. It's a way of saying, "the driver is solely responsible

Brilliant news that the 10 billion km milestone has been achieved, but sadly disappointing that more hasn’t been made of the announcement.
This was an open goal opportunity to put the figures into the context of what it actually means for see, how we can move even further ahead of our competition and what additional opportunities we can pursue. It’s not as if we haven’t had plenty of time to prepare something in advance that might have helped our woeful share price.

The global aviation industry will need to keep a sharp focus and engage in collective efforts to build a robust, diverse talent pipeline through more educational outreach and recruitment programs, development of new pathways to aviation careers, investment in early-career learning opportunities, and deployment and adoption of more efficient learning methods.

As the commercial aviation industry recovers from the pandemic and plans for long-term growth, we anticipate a steady and increasing demand for aviation personnel, as well as the ongoing need for highly effective training," said Chris Broom, vice president, Commercial Training Solutions, Boeing Global Services. "Our customer-centric approach and digital expertise includes a commitment to delivering data driven, competency-based training and assessment solutions as well as technologies that meet the evolving needs of our customers."
New digital solutions to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of training would include immersive learning experiences and virtual learning platforms.

CFP, I do apologise for my previous irreverent reply.
You are quite correct, there has been a great deal of money spent and it’s taken more than two decades. Well over $100 million and counting was one estimate. The process of turning a good idea into a world class company with auto accreditation is neither cheap or easy, it has however made our tech the universally accepted global leader.
I accept that being hugely successful in landing auto contracts will inevitably involve further short term engineering costs to fine tune OEM requirements, but having endless production lines paying us 24/7 for 5-7 years is the result.
The aviation division although small has an eye watering opportunity the magnitude of which few even begin to comprehend, which to date hasn’t cost much. Whether we get to benefit or allow someone else to eat our aviation lunch only time will tell , but having met PMG but I won’t be putting any of my hard earned on the competition.

Cold fish pie for once I wholeheartedly agree with you, I’m also sure that oatcake is a nice person. We just disagree on everything else.
FYI we’ve already been informed that the aviation division doesn’t actually cost much, since a lot of the financial heavy lifting of r&d had already been completed irrespective of the aviation division.
With reference to your mention of CAW, I’m not entirely sure what the college of animal welfare contribute to our aviation division, but await an explanation with baited breath. Our work with Emirates on the other hand has provided us with the magical key that opens every other door in the aviation world…and they didn’t even charge!

Civil Full Flight Simulator Census
The Civil Full Flight Simulator Census, developed and kept continuously updated by CAT magazine for over 15 years, provides the sole source of comprehensive data for over 1700 full flight simulators around the world, enabling industry professionals to find simulators to meet their specific needs and requirements. With many aircraft types currently retiring from airline service we estimate that roughly 150 simulators will also be retired or repurposed in the next months, offering opportunity to some.
Military simulators are in addition to the ones mentioned above. For example…

Yesterday’s announcement
LONDON (July 18, 2022) – Collins Aerospace announced today at the Farnborough International Airshow the USAF has established the P6CTS as its official Program of Record and selected the Collins Aerospace Tactical Combat Training System – Increment II (TCTS II) as its preferred solution. This selection was the result of USAF evaluation of TCTS II’s growth capacity to meet all USAF future Air Combat Training requirements while remaining fully interoperable with U.S. Navy’s TCTS II.
