It has also been discovered that creating hybrid materials can also be useful for achieving battery enhancement. A hybrid of Vanadium Oxide (VO2) and graphene, for example, can be used on Li-ion cathodes and grant quick charge and discharge as well as large charge cycle durability. In this case, VO2 offers high energy capacity but poor electrical conductivity, which can be solved by using graphene as a sort of a structural “backbone” on which to attach VO2 - creating a hybrid material that has both heightened capacity and excellent conductivity.

Excellent analysis by BBN as usual. I would like to add my own humble musings to the part about requiring a trigger point. It cannot be emphasised enough how little the general public and even (especially) people involved in renewables and energy storage know about VRFB’s. As Daisydog (I think it was) said the other day, a CEO of a renewable energy project had never heard of them.
I deal with Leasing Companies on a daily basis. I have to do various training regularly with the FCA, BVRLA (I am in the automotive side of things) and various training from some of the lease Companies themselves. Now obviously EV’s are the big topic of the moment and at a recent annual training session with one of the biggest Leasing Companies in Europe, during a break, I tried to engage the trainer on the subject of battery storage. I can’t tell you if he had heard of VRFB’s or not because his eyes glazed over and he gave me a disdainful look such as a pompous University Professor may give a 2 year old. (I look forward to next year)
When the trigger point comes (and it will, I personally suspect as a result of a big Lithium disaster somewhere closer to home than the previous ones) and the penny finally drops it will drop in a massive way. So massive I am struggling to find a suitable analogy. Possibly the invention of the wheel. At that point BMN will go stratospheric. It would be better if it wasn’t until they have all their ducks in line to be honest.

Berserker, I have worked in finance for decades in one capacity or another. The FCA (previously FSA) like to bully little guys. In fairness they have done a lot to help the average consumer but they don't upset their Eton chums in the city.

Bassguy, yeah. I picked up about 12800 yesterday at (I think) 23.5 and couldn't believe my luck. 200,000 is not far short of my total holding. Having said that I average about 14p so swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Berserker, never know lately. 200,000 more bought than sold today and SP goes down 3.26% it seems to have a tediously predictable unpredictability at the moment.

May as well have my two penneth worth. SA politics has been a bit of a car crash since Mr Mandela exited stage left. It is fair to say that it has been endemicly corrupt since. Zuma being ousted was undoubtedly a good thing in my view as was the ejection of the Guptas. Ramaphosa in my view is trying to straighten it out but ingrained corruption doesn't like to leave and he has got his work cut out.

Leaving that aside, just like SA can't allow Eskom to fail, the world can't allow SA to fail. Despite centuries of pillage (mainly by us) it is still one of the countries in the world with the greatest amount of natural mineral resources and this is their greatest strength currently. It is also the gateway to Africa.

It is never going to degenerate into a Somali type situation with effectively no government and mining will always be required to generate income.

It isn't the most stable place in the world granted, and isn't likely to be anytime soon but they have built enough of a democratic foundation that there is never likely to be an Idi Amin style dictator or a total breakdown of government. All in my opinion of course.

As someone pointed out earlier, BMN have always been in SA. For me the risk has receded a bit. I do mean a bit. I also think it is going slowly in the right direction.

BBN/Ophidian - Do think any refurbishment/expansion plans could be accelerated with the sale of Lemur? It doesn't sit well with our 'green' credentials and I think we all agree we will divest ourselves of it one way or the other at the appropriate time. If so, what's it worth?

Alfa, I clearly hit a nerve there and quite right too. The Polish stood shoulder to shoulder with us and we shafted them when we won. I can accept that political expediency was required then but we are nearly 3 quarters of a century beyond now. So, let's do something for them before they die. All of them. I have given it the bigun and talked the talk so now I will walk the walk. I will try to find out how many there are. Any help appreciated (alfa has my private contact details) and see what I can do. Crowd funding maybe, or just BMN funding. No idiot celebrities or politicians. Celebration of these amazing people for whom we can never repay.

Mr r, much as I appreciate your support and opinion, this is not a school sports day. A good BB (lets be fair, despite everything this is still the best there has ever been) is about a self mutual help group. It is, in this case, in my view, a bit like 'the few' who fought the battle of Britain. Many of us owe a massive debt to a few. I certainly don't include myself in the few either. I chuck the odd opinion in and I'd like to think I'm not a moron. I also do quite a bit on media sites which even Alfa will back me on I'm sure. I also make the odd ****ed up comment, but all the technical stuff and research from the incredible posters on here, I'm not fit to lace their boots. There was a heated debate last week, which I started, about being nasty to new posters. Mainly between me and Ophidian. Knuttie kind of changed my opinion with some very telling observations. Anyway, this is a ****ed rambling. So, the sixth left of the actual British 'few' died this week hours after his hundredth birthday. I do think it would be a good idea to celebrate these amazing men, and those non- British 'few' survivors for whom we owe the same debt of gratitude BEFORE they die. Suggestions welcome.

If you were talking about land acquisition anywhere else in the world I would concede you have a point. However, 'land grab' has a very different connotation in SA currently which I have no doubt you are aware of.
