On the subject of a takeover; every company has people keeping a keen eye on the opposition so why do people think we're takeover target when we've just got a new Topman that's job is to sort things out and take us forward ?? then maybe when retail is taken back by another 300 shops and online is really progressive and American interest really starts to deliver than I think yeah we're in the cross hairs of some far east company that wants some action . But imo let ulrik do the hard decisions then I think it maybe ripe for an offer but in the meantime let the natural growth and his planning get to work. It's been a hard 4 months for the planet which I actually think has done William hill well because focus was transferred to sort the finance out and now we're better off ?? so if I was in market to buy a bookmaking company I wouldn't buy it until the hard work has been done .

Spd00004 never ever ever ever buy a share that u think is a takeover target ?? that's pure speculation and the only people privvy to that info are risking heavy fines or imprisonment if they divulge said info.takeovers take months of secret talks and if it gets rejected or not it's there duty to announce said talks .and as for your stop loss (I've never had one) I'm presuming if it gets to £1 it's an automatic closing of said position but I'm sure someone on here will put you right on that matter

In my experience of shareholding there's usually a sideways or downward trend 2 weeks before an update but this is a long downward trend about a month or so since 150+

Very interesting read yarde2k and it wouldn't surprise me next Wednesday if it's announced there not bringing back all the shops and as for the 128p share placing I did think the shares would drop about 20% so I've held back to now to start buying again,£1 is a reality but long term it's a but imo

I can remember my first venture into the market with a very little cider company in the early nineties it was merrydown and it was 21p a share and going knowhere full of different brands and no direction which resulted in a new top man who decided on day one to axe all non core products (alcopops etc) and focus on the brand merrydown cider and schlor soft drinks . He trebled sales in the cider and managed to crack America with the schlor soft drinks brand .what's this got to do with William hill your thinking ? Well he was bit unproven in the trade and our new boss strikes a remarkable resemblance to the strategy he took . Axing the non profit making shops here and going more online and concentrate on cracking the us as well. By the way merrydown was taken over for 180p a share .

A lot of talk about takeover lately on here ?? but unless it's £5 not interested . When u look to invest in a company the management has to be top priority and William hill has top notch here and the us. They will reach the heights we are all hoping for but if someone decides to pay that price before the share price flowers then they done an even better job

This year sort the finance and cut back on retail since government cut the machine in shops to £2 and I'm hopeful £1.50 by yearend next year America or someone gets vaccine sorted and American sports start in full and take off year after as the main man says it's a better company now than it was at the start of the year only my opinion

It's like Christmas ?? buy buy buy I've added another 2000 today and if it drops to a £1 I will repeat I'm convinced this is a med/ long term great investment

Find it strange the company is valued at roughly the same price as the JV price for 60% of brewing business now it's delayed ?? I'm outa here smell a rat

Something is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it. Today's price or next month's price don't mean anything you bought into the shares because of good management and you had a long term view of the company , a lot has been going on with William hill recently and it will take time to sort out. Sit tight don't sell and add if u can is my advice the future is Rosey.

Thanks for the reply CJ and I understand now exactly what you've explained and I stand corrected but the share price reflects a drop of about another 200 million shares in circulation
