I don't see this as a HUM move into Lead/Zinc/Silver. It's described as an arms-length transaction so it looks to me as a purely financial action, not a change of company focus. It may just have a risk/return profile they like for their money. I don't see this as long term.

For Dugbe, I think HUM's strategy is still a JV with a senior partner and, from Liberia's press, probably a Liberian state component. Did anyone say anything yesterday to change that? I'm still expecting HUM to move it forward by relinquishing Dugbe equity rather than sinking in Yanfolila profits.

I have no criticism of Adam Reynolds. He seems top notch at shaping and launching companies. However, that stage is complete and I was more concerned that no one with a more appropriate background was taking over. So I am very pleased to see Matthew Walls in as chairman. Both appointments reassure me that CPT has a future.

Short term, I'm not so clear where we are in cash terms. Last year was expensive with Doncaster and an overhaul of the production process. Erik has also said that CPT's overheads are low. However, salary costs must be rising and AIM co's all need to raise cash unless they have good money coming in...

GaryJ I agree with MAO3 If you read the accompanying circular, pages 56-58, you will see the scheme as it is being proposed will not be treated as income by HMRC under the 2015 regs. The scheme is being presented as a return of capital and according to the circular, HMRC accept this. People will have to be aware of their capital gains position but not income tax.

In the case of the Indie referendum SL was afraid it would lose business if it was based in a separate Scotland with most of its customers in England. Hence the plans to be based in the country where most of its customers lived. For the EU referendum that wouldn't be an issue, until a second Indie referendum should that follow. However, it would create uncertainty at least in the short term so some impact has to be expected. By the time of the EU referendum we're unlikely to know all the ways that investment managers would be affected by leaving the EU, and the impact might greater on the fund management side. Rightly or wrongly, Brexit would create some unknowns so I'd expect falls.
