Barc is a hard share to love. It seems to constantly disappoint...so why do I hold? Because I firmly believe there is good value locked up here going for a very reasonable price. It will have its day....but when??? No one can answer that....but patience is definitely required. For anyone doubting themselves...spend half an hour on Hargreaves lansdowne reviewing the UK mutual funds major holdings ( pick any...old mutual, Jupiter, Artemis ET AL.)and you will notice 2 recurring themes. 1 they are heavily focussed on financial company's 2 Barc is very often a top ten holding....and it's not for the recent dividend :). Patience, patience... .one day ( maybe not soon), but one day it will come together....

Just playing around on uswitch entering my current spend....British gas come up with 2 products in the top 10 recommended switches (all online March 2019 & home energy plus Mar 2019). Really good effort....other than octopus...haven't heard of the others.

30000 is a chunk.....good look....that would keep me up at night... Let's hope for a stellar turn around in the next couple of yrs..

I've doubled my holding today to 4000 shares.....granted not massive but all I'm willing to risk on the company and the macro factors. I do like the prospects here bit is not without risk..........but balance of probabilities alone I feel more in favour of a rise. My other concern is any aggressive price cap which would hammer eps. CNA still have to stem their customer losses ( I'd be interested to know how many posters here buy their gas & electricity from CNA?....I certainly don't...I'm with OVO).....They need to get more competitive.....I suppose the ageing population will assist CNA as they are less likely to switch. The low the other day when the Dow sank was still higher the the earlier low earlier in the month. 20 day moving average above 50 moving average......it's a punt...but I feel worth it at this level...my average now 1.426

The beast from the east has raised last months gas bill by over 40% from my winter average (I'm with ovo). If that is replicated across CNA customers, together with cold weather maintenance call outs.....should swell the coffers

OT, If these things ever quadruple...I'll buy you a pint....I am optimistic...but that is way out of my sphere of hope. I do see a global bear market in the next 12-18 months....

Yes Woody is having a shocker. The entire index bouncing well today...but his patent capital fund showing red.. However I do agree with him ref GSK....the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole.

Very positive response.....it is a natural fit, no new processes to learn, it should be quite seamless. The most important point being as a JV so far we have had full access to the books... Had we done the Pfizer deal .....this would have panned. Due Diligence would have been much harder and more opaque.... The right deal was done....good work Emma

It will boost cash generation and eps from the get go ( granted we are parting with 13 Billion!!!). Novartis seem made up reading their report. We will find out in 20 minutes what the market thinks though
