Nick...your welcome...but I'm no Warren Buffet. 3 things I personallyrecommend -always stick to draw 100 and some good 250 companies (stay away from AIM stocks....complete lottery and corrupt market place--- I learned the hard way 2 stay away from leveraged positions... 3 get as much as you can in your yearly ISA allowance. Hi Nick Personally I would never buy a share " purely" for the next dividend....you already have the 8 p in your wallet...all CNA do is take it off you on day after XD and hand it you back in June.... If you have conviction in a RE_rate and are willing to hold ( my position but may not be yours) then buy option sounds reasonable.and reinvest on DRIP..but you you won't miss out if you buy day after XD. Final option is sitting on fence..50% buy pre xd and 50% cash invade RNS is not what we hoped for....you can then buy more at lower price. Fwiw I think can are undervalued to 1.80-2.00. Region

Hi Nick 148 is now support . However come X dividend we drop 8 p regardless. To go into XD 156+ puts us on/above support which is good. If we are below 156 on XD the we open up below 148...not ideal as resistance will be RE- created out of failed support ( albeit the crossing over is artificial due to XD). Either way 148 resistance will not be as strong as last time. FWIW I think we will be clear of 156 prior to XD (assuming no major geo- political issues Syria/ Israel & Iran tango dance etc..etc..) Thanks Freya....I'm a bloke but fully agree with your points. I can think of many reasons not to invest too...bricks and mortar business, v old fashioned, loss of market share , falling rps and profit etc.. But they have resilience. Have been around for over a century are moving to 30% internet and are cheap... will keep thinking.. To get back on topic can just breached 156...great news...if we can stay above then come ex dividend day we stay above old but very persistent resistance ( now support) of 148... Apologies for off content discussion..

Fruitster, Ballsy move. I have 5% portfolio in Cna so am rooting for you ( and me). There are many positives here...but also the odd risk....EPS needs to improve to sustain dividend...if not it gets cut....that would hurt. Enjoy your posts..well reasoned...you looking at any other new purchases?? Always like to hear others ideas. In the last 4 weeks I've entered BT. , SAGA, ITV, Imperial, And GSK 6 weeks ago....knackered doing the research but satisfied they have good value currently priced low. Still thinking about MKS. Saga is off most people's radar as it is a boring stock and a boring. As a investor I think it is a brilliant investment. The consumers are old...they like brand loyalty and trust the name, the older generation have the most disposable income. Call centres UK based, great ( many 000') reviews on trust pilot...highly can generative, earnings easily progressive dividend..............I would not be too quick to sell out too soon....I'm looking again at 1.75.....and will likely not sell then... I've just entered into ITV....some similar reasons....boring share that people ignore but with good prospects...love them... Careful with BP...great company, expensive share price but heavily exposed to Russia....granted things gone quiet there for now Good luck whatever you decide
