I personally feel that sentiment is stabilising. The 3 month chart on the desktop site shows a nice reversal upwards, market cap has moved from 7 to 8 billion, volume in favour of buys is getting stronger. None of the above actually matter.....but they do influence general sentiment, the physiology of those looking to invest, the fear of " missing the boat!'......and these emotions do matter....at some point we will break 148 and continue to drift north ( when who knows??)...but I feel v relaxed holding these shares ( all bought with cash!) and see real future value in the 2-5 yr timescale....... Well done to the guy who shorted at 146.5 and 147.....ballsy
Once we hit 150... then we should be gapping up......patience patience it will come. Been on holiday and got round to reading the book- The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. Originally written decades ago by the father of value investing...the pre face was by Warren Buffet........really interesting and still v much pertinent today..........one piece of advice was to "stop watching the kettle boil". Having satisfied yourself of your investment decision, sit back and let time do the rest....impatience forces people to sell out of quality stocks too early......been there done that! Sun is shining. Dog needs walking...have a great day all
Pipe dreamer...I hear you ref your comments on MKS....I bought BT but decided to hold off on MKS as I am a little cautious of UK retail still.......glad I did. Debenhams this morning blaming the beast from the east on an 85% slump in half year profits ( seems like they are using it as a scapegoat TBH)......but even if half true it must correspondingly be good for CNA.
Just reading the last report from 22ND Feb Adjusted EPS down 25% to 12.6p Proposed full year dividend of 12p That is bloody tight......Conn needs to pull a big rabbit out of the had to increase EPS and thus dividend cover.....
Been watching BT for a while and decided to take the plunge today. Although there are obvious headwinds...longer term 3-5 years I see some real value here.... Hopefully pension changes are put to bed soon and suit both the company & staff.. The 3500+ recruitment drive for new open reach engineers smells v positive. GLA
No rush on gaining the leg up.....am waiting to purchase a few more but money from post office account take 2 days to appear in my linked account!!! I decided to start nibbling at BT.A shares today and when money clears may also look to buy MKS......not a recommendation....but I always enjoy hearing what others are looking at..... I was watching AA and FGP a few weeks back but didn't fancy the downside risk....looks like I was wrong and those boats have sailed... Good luck all
Quite. Right... https://www.centrica.com/newsroom/tags/usa
Can't honestly remember the scale of US operations for CNA. However, the recent cut in corporation tax over there is starting to feed through to earnings... JPM just announced significant increase in profits of 35%. Any company with US exposure will benefit http://news.sky.com/story/donald-trumps-tax-cuts-see-jpmorgan-profits-soar-by-35-11328723
Tax changes very significant for JPM... Hopefully will do the same for US based pharma operations of GSK http://news.sky.com/story/donald-trumps-tax-cuts-see-jpmorgan-profits-soar-by-35-11328723
