Thoughts on the future?22 Mar 2022 08:49
Was a strong advocate of VELA for some time based on SGS given the wording of various RNS updates. Along with many, levels of frustration around the way these have evolved and today find myself contemplating my future with this (significant) holding. Thought I would see what other long term holders opinions may be?
The only plus I can see at the moment is this years warrants can get in the sea, so are zero threat. Perhaps SGS will come good long term. Losing faith in the bods at the moment. Where's the roadmap for the money in the bank!? IMO, VELA need to share a meaninful update on where things are in the pipeline.
Quotes and timelines for reference:
8th April RNS:
Subject to successful indications in June 2021 about the outcome of the study, conversations about commercialisation and potential license deals with third parties will commence at that time.
9th September (ok, so they used AND/OR...., but is implied with "immediately" that this is starting today/this week):
Further to the update released by Vela on 6 September 2021, the Board of Vela has been informed by St George Street Capital ("SGSC") that, following receipt of the final data from the ARCADIA Phase II clinical trial, SGSC will immediately start to undertake commercial discussions with potential licensees and/or fundraise for further clinical trials to investigate SGS002 ("the Asset") in a larger study.
16th September (Implies they went commerical route as no use of and/or).
We understand from SGSC that, following the successful results of the ARCADIA trial released last week, it has begun commercial discussions with potential licensees of AZD1656 and will be using the proceeds from the sale of its Vela shares to develop several new innovative-drug programmes.
14th December (Implies commercial discussions are ongoing):
Further to the update released by Vela on 9 September 2021, the Board of Vela (AIM: VELA) has been informed by St George Street Capital ("SGSC") that the Clinical Study Report ("CSR") from the ARCADIA Phase II clinical trial has been completed. SGSC are undertaking commercial discussions with potential licensees and partners and examining options for the next stage of the development and approval process. The finalisation of the CSR formally marks the end of the ARCADIA trial.
7th March (use of Potential commercial partners implies nothing yet making meaningful progress):
"This update from SGSC indicates that the promise shown by earlier test results (which we have reported on previously) is being maintained. We are pleased that the latest analysis of the results of the study of the application of the AZD1656 treatment is sufficiently encouraging to result in active engagement with potential commercial partners; and thus to vindicate our decision to invest. We remain confident that the AZD1656 treatment has the potential to show a healthy return for SGSC and therefore for Vela."
