AAL plan to sink the shaft first and have put the (expensive) tunnel and port on hold.

Pretty obvious to anybody with half a brain.

Unless they wanted to sink the project, rather than the shaft all along.

Perhaps Chris Fraser decided to shaft the shareholders rather than get the mine up and running ?

How mucH cash does Sirius have left including any money held in escrow for cleaning up the site if the project fails ?

If say they have 250 million left, this means the Anglo American offer is worth a poxy 150-200 million ?

How did short sellers sell over 300 million shares in Sirius driving the price down ?

The demand by JPM that the spec. for the tunnel should be increased (costing $600 million more) was, in my view, totally unnecessary and was made to make the raising of capital more difficult and therefore more likely to fail. That it was not necessary is evidenced by the recent revised Stage 2 proposals for a totally unlined tunnel section from Woodsmith shaft towards Wilton.
All part of the "grand plan".

If the plan by JPM all along was indeed to scuttle the project and orchestrate a takeover for AAL then surely this is a scandal of epic proportions comparable to the Libor scandal ? Very difficult to prove without inside knowledge. I hope this can be investigated fairly as if true and that’s a big if - it is not just Sirius shareholders who are being robbed, but the people of the entire North East. Organisations like the FCA are no match for JPM - they will run circles round them. Can even the media do anything ? I would like to believe that this sort of thing won’t happen and that one can trust the integrity of a large bank and the Sirius board, however reading posts here feel that I may be naive.

Anglo American is a British company.

It’s origins are in South Africa, hence the Anglo, the only reason for the American part of the name is because J P Morgan provided the funds to start the business.

The stain of JP Morgan is all over this sorry tale. Why is it that I am getting the feeling this entire saga has been expertly choreographed from start to finish ? No need to answer. A good many folk in Yorkshire (or should that be many good folk in Yorkshire) are probably thinking the same.

Littlened, can you show me a single company in the UK of a scale comparable with Google, Facebook, Amazon, E-bay, Uber, Microsoft, Apple, PayPal or indeed JPM ? Face up to it, we have no capacity to influence and certainly no capacity to grow a business to these proportions. All of these companies make billions upon billions in the UK. The balance of trade is pathetic.

Perhaps it’s time for UK plc to wake up and smell the coffee. What hope is there for any British business to thrive with large American predators waiting to destroy them ?

Speedy, If you believe what was in the press , it appears that the Bond offer was pulled following which the SP was trashed. If JPM was involved in the shorting this is completely unethical and abhorrent. Personally I think it is unlikely. Thanks to a toothless FCA we may never know. Perhaps someone on this board can shed more light ?

Am I right in thinking that the only reason AAL is trying to buy this out before the cash runs out is the need to keep the tunnelling machine going ? If it stops tunnelling that’s it - it’s buried underground for ever ? I’m guessing if not for this they would simply wait for the company to go into administration before picking up the pieces. Of course they would then risk a bidding war with other companies.
