The AEG share started spiking in late December when they issued an RNS about 'CoalSwitch', a biomass product which will be burnt in the US to generate power. The Private Eye has been publishing articles for years about the Drax Power Station - apparently it is an open secret that it is greenwashing rubbish; burning biomass actually generates more greenhouse gases than biomass.

It might spike again, but it might just be a bubble that inflates and deflates over time. But, if it is a bubble, there will be people who believe and overpaid in the past, and they will want to average down.

Are you suggesting they could issue all those shares at 0.2p each - they would most likely get around 0.125p a share? I think they may place 4 billion shares at 0.125p a share and offer the remaining 4 billion in a proportional open offer to qualifying shareholders. That way they will be guaranteed £5m.

Anyone expecting the share price to remain stable tomorrow may need help from a qualified financial adviser.

As there are few clear winners yet, it may make more sense to concentrate in the 'bucket and spade' side. Plenty of resources will be needed to make, store and transmit the power but who knows what technology will be the winner.
