Sunak has decided he needs to go to war against China in the media to win Tory votes; ending reliance on China is a good idea - that is where the concept of 'friend-shoring' comes from.

But poking China publicly to score cheap political points when we are reliant on them for goods to keep our society functioning is short-sighted. It may help him politicly, but it is an act of harm against the nation.

It seems to be poor judgement and an act lacking in any understanding of Statesmanship.

This must undermine the markets for cobalt and manganese; certainly in Europe and the UK people do not need that much battery capacity if they feel confident they can recharge so the lower range is fine for the cost savings for many.
