In other news VANL accept cash offer at around 50% premium [an extra 19p on the existing share price]. I think it is still a low ball price but trust the judgement of management so if they say it is a good offer who am I to criticise? A profit is a profit and all that and a 50% uplift overnight must always be welcomed.

Look for an energy independent exporter of primary products. Ideally with a low medium age and a birth rate over 2. So Guyana and Kazakhstan are high on the list as is Nigeria. Guyana is booming at the moment and Venezuela has been pacified by Trump so the geopolitical risks are lower. I think that the prices of most shares are going to keep softening with some seeing severe drops... Be careful out there.

Requests to redeem 40% of Blue Owl Technology Income Corp shows the panic over the SaaSpocalypse... I have been posting for a few years that private credit is sitting on overvalued assets and that eventually there would come the day that mark-to-market valuations would be imposed. I thought that the day of reckoning would come for commercial real estate first but tech funds are clearly the focus at the moment. Blue Owl are using the 5% limit to sell off there assets that are closer to book value to pay out the 5% in the quarter hoping that the panic will die down. If it does not then they will be selling assets at a significant discount to book value and the whole industry will catch bronchitis. Worth bearing in mind that Blue Owl were supposed to be one of the big players in AI data centres but those promised investments must now be under more doubt.

That is a stonking return on an investment in a company that went bust... to be able to get out of trouble with such a small loss is testament to the quality of the asset that was backing the loan and gives some comfort about other investment security.
