RE: DYOR2 Jan 2021 09:35
During the 08 crash TW. was my first trade after a mate told me he just bought £10,000 of TW. Shares at 2 or 4p and doubled his money overnight. At the time he thought he was smart but he’s regretted selling them everyday since. He also told me about finding companies like Aviva that used to swing up and down. So I had a go and bought Aviva at £1.67 and TW. at 17p, then bought some more, and then there was the rights issue so I bought more and now I have a TW. .39p average.
He also suggested I keep £10,000-£20,000 on the side for the 10 year boom bust cycle or any VW diesel emissions scenarios.
It was good advice although the usual crash did not happen the virus had the same effect and I was ready with my dosh. I bought £40,000 of Carnival a rode those wild swings but, it got too sweaty for me so I watched and waited for RDSB and BP to drop and eventually I got in near the bottom at £9.67. It’s just as sweaty worrying you might miss the bounce then you’ll have to wait another ten years.
