They didn't put the first one up, and they may not want egg in their face if there is a second failed attempt. I would imagine an RNS would be published after the turbines are redeployed

I would think the turbines are fully ready as they made the failed attempt to redeploy in November , I think the difficulty is they can’t get a suitable vessel. Or maybe they can’t afford hire of suitable vessel ?!

So still no progress.

"Currently, three of the turbines have been moved to our workshop in Nigg to allow the team to complete onshore service works. We expect one of the turbines to be returned to service very shortly with the other two scheduled to be returned to service later in the year, once their service works are completed."

From their own website:

AR1500 and SeaGen turbines have been designed for retrieval once every six years for an overhaul and maintenance program which should take approximately two weeks. A standard DP2 vessel can be used to retrieve the nacelles and return them to base for these programmed maintenance activities.

So out of the water for a year, Pretty Poor

Unfortunately, SWL (Safe Working Load) of her cranes are 80T and 60T. The SAE Turbine is over 100 Tonnes

Very much doubt it unfortunately, Wrong type of ship. General cargo rather than heavy lift. Looks like a grain or materials ship and cranes not big enough.

As DAVE2020 says, You need to look for a ship with a big crane on it. The incoming Chineses ones are Heavy Load ships. Doesn't seem to be any expected arrivals for SAE. With the Hydroelectric department sold it's annoying that these income producing assets are out of the water for so long.

I doubt it’s financially viable fro them to bring that turbine back to the U.K. at the moment , the lease cost of a specialist vessel like that is somewhere around 30k a day from what I have read. It’s at least a months voyage home so £1M to get it back . I would say it’s better to store it in the souther hemisphere close to other potential customers. I seem to remember reading they did have access to a local workshop or partnership near the recent test site.

Although could be at the upper end of her Crane Capacity, Vessel Spec sheet says 150T Crane and the AR1500 is 150T

Noticed the Normand Subsea Crane Vessel is currently steaming into Nigg. Pure Speculation but looks the right spec of ship and crane to put the Turbines back into the water

I wonder if they have had to pay for the aborted first attempt? These ships aren’t cheap! There is a other heavy lift ship due into Nigg soon but I don’t think it’s for SAE. Looks more oil rig related

Why don’t you drive up to Nigg and have a look in the warehouse , they are quite big . Fairly hard to hide lol !

Unfortunately she is just passing through the area en-route to Norway from Belfast now, She dropped the turbines off at Nigg after the failure as far as I could see.

They tried to redeploy one the other day but there were problems with the ship crane and it had to be aborted
