Not Capita related news, but it shows us how difficult is even for governments like Japan in defending itself from cyber-crime attacks.

The organisation responsible for Japan’s national defences against cyber attacks has itself been infiltrated by hackers, who may have gained access to sensitive data for as much as nine months.

According to three government and private sector sources familiar with the situation, Chinese state-backed hackers were believed to be behind the attack on Japan’s National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), which began last autumn and was not detected until June.

The discovery of the incident and the sensitivity of the target comes at a time of unprecedented scrutiny of Japan’s vulnerability to cyber attack. Tokyo is embarking on deeper military co-operation with the US and regional allies, including work on a joint fighter project with the UK and Italy, in which top secret technological data will be exchanged.

Government cyber security experts in both the US and UK have expressed strong reservations about Japan’s ability to safely handle data.

That's great news imho.

So, ICO was in a contractual agreement with Capita until end of last June 2023 and will not be renewed? That's sounds great even if they didn't renewed as they stated. It could be seen as conflict interests being at play specially that they're too the ones that need to investigate these data breaches. I believe and is quite obvious that it is most likely that Capita will escape with a reprimand if and when ICO decides to complete their investigation in this year or whenever they want to.

Is for that reason that after you gave us that what do they know link that I'm very relaxed about the whole Ico pending investigations.

After looking who could be the it supplier for printing those high security Met Police warrant cards, I can now rest assure everyone it isn't anything to do with Capita either directly or indirectly. Met Police and City of London Police are two different police governing bodies.

Apparently there a just a handful of Metropolitan Police approved suppliers of security sensitive printing materials that involves also processing warrant cards that now come with a security chip that will carry the officer warrant card personal data.

Those suppliers are police vetted and only a few have been approved for such highly security sensitive materials.

I've already found who those suppliers are and none are connected with Capita 💯 %

That's very helpful information.

It actually helped me in finding other non related capita data breaches ongoing investigations with other companies for which I was and still a customer during those cyberattack breaches.

On that basis, I would think that Capita might get either a reprimand notice or a very small fine if any at all. As far I know, the cyberattack attack that was caused when an offshore IT employee click on an email link, has as of recently been completed and not longer an ongoing investigation. There is still the issue with the other set of files that had been left on a server unsecured which we're still to hear about it, but that might not be of much concern.

Force announces major security breach after cyber criminals hack into warrant card supplier in move branded 'outrageous' by former top cop.

All 47,000 personnel in the force were warned last night of the risk that their photos, names and ranks could have been stolen when criminals hacked the IT systems of a contractor that prints staff passes.

ID numbers and vetting levels could also have been exposed in the breach employees were told.

The National Crime Agency has since been called in amid fears terrorists and organised gangs could try and use the stolen data, it has been reported.
