I realise that I'm on the GMS forum board, but further to my last post, I notice that Seacor Holdings have also been given the all clear on Nov 18th to take over International Shipholding Corp. Another indicator of things are going to move in this sector. There will be further shake outs of other companies on their last legs and the (hopefully) a recovery in the offshore. My own thoughts are to buy in across a spectrum of offshore assets that are at rock-bottom values. GMS is already on the move.....

It looks as if the market has bottomed re the offshore sector. Various companies gone under, others re scheduled debt and avoided chapter 11. Seacor Holdings up from around $46 to $61 in past month, and offered to buy/merge with different companies (Gulf Mark)as well as buying vessels at rock bottom prices (11 vsls from Pacific Richfield Marine Pte Ltd). Similar strategy that it used in late 80's early 90's when it merged/bought multiple companies and vessels at low prices. HTG on a bit of a roll. Oil price heading up. Looks as if buying-in now will give a long term reasonable profit

to be moving up along with oil price. The offshore industry has already bottomed so the next move will be up....though may take another few months to gather some pace.

drop a bit overdone; a top-up opportunity for many. FT shows five analysts with a median price of 1380p, a high of 1800p and a low of 1240p. More value to come

suggested on Friday, at sub 200p its worth a punt, and probably worth adding more if the price drops even lower.

Possibly those that have been stung already by the large SP drop wish to jump ship before some other unforeseen event arises.

below 200p it may be worth a small buy-in.... though its still unclear as to what's really happening. At the present very high P/E its not worth assuming that it's a bargain because of the price drop. It dropped for good reasons. Markets are in a period of uncertainty. Not very exciting, but think about buying gold or silver from Bullionvault or others as a hedge until things are clearer, or just hold on to your cash or buy builders such as Galliford Try which appear to be rising daily.....

the company, and sold to take a profit when at 326p in August; will have to wait and see what happens next. Tom W is giving it an avoid comment at the moment.

drop more tomorrow, and maybe worth buying back in

my holding and bought more GFRD Galliford which has been consistently rising. There comes a time when its best to cut losses and back your winners.

buy back in if the SP drops another couple %. Was lucky to get out at recent peaks. Still believe its a good share, but can'r resist taking a profit now and then!!

HSBC is giving a forecast of 1,800p a share. Median forecast from five analysts as shown in the FT is 1,495p. Dividend yield for the year expected to be around 8.1%. Ex Div 27th Oct. Excellant write-up from IC on 14th Sept. What not to like?
