Fleccy, yes I know we have had this discussion previously and I fully appreciate your comments, and I respectfully appreciate your engineering background in telecoms. Yes I would also agree small players will take the budget customer away from BT. However, I still feel that more customers will want fibre broadband, this virus I think will bring it home especially for people working from home, reliability comes first, before cost. Customers would rather pay a little more for the best reliable service. So for this reason I think that BT will see future growth in fibre broadband. Just my opinion of cause. Time will tell.

I honestly think growth will come once BT roll out fibre. Patience needed, Jansen says 5 years. BT will become a growth company withing this time period. Just my opinion of cause.

Toff.... "The BOD should always look after the best interests of shareholders but you have to question the integrity of the pigs that run BT. Putting your most valuable asset up for sale on the market stinks of asset striping. Investors used to moan about Paterson (former CEO) but at least he didn’t asset strip the company for monetary gain. I have serious doubts about this lot - they seem to be out to shade the employees and the shareholders for their own personal gain. If I was a big institutional investor I would pin the CEO up against a wall and ask him what his game was."

To be fair Toff, if indeed you're referring to Openreach, we don't exactly know that BT have put their main asset up for sale. I for one don't think that BT need to sell off any percent of Openreach. By cancelling the dividend for 18 months, then if it is reinstalled at half what BT was paying previously, plus the coast's savings going forward, this in my opinion goes a long way to paying for fiber.

Good positive move by the BT BOD giving up their bonuses, so they should, I'm giving up over 6k a year in my BT dividends. What's good enough for the goose is good for the gander.

You also have to take into account BT have debts of £18 billion. However, I do agree with you that BT are undervalued and at a bargain price, when considering that BT paid £12.5 billion just for EE.

You may be interested to know guys that ITV ADR's closed up 4.66% in the USA tonight, on high volume of share traded, almost 5.4 times the average volume.

Good buy Fleccy, which ever way you look at BT they are undervalued. I also see better value in BT over VOD long-term, but both should do well starting at such a low valuations.

I calculated the average price BT CEO Philip Jansen share purchases yesterday, and it came in @150p per share. This doesn't include dividends that he will have received. I believe that he will make a very good return on his £6 million investment. I'm expecting that he will double his money withing the 5 years that Jansen set to turn BT around.

Mr Jansen told the FT that patience would be rewarded. “In five years, BT will be a better company,” he promised.

I for once agree with you Toff, BT should keep hold of it's prised asset. BT don't need to sell Openreach now that it's stopped it's dividend to fund fibre. I would advise shareholders forget the share price for now, come back in 5 years from now and BT will be a different animal. Jansen is doing the right thing for the company and it's shareholders. He's no fool, it's also reassuring to know that he also has skin in the game.

Gioviano, In my opinion it was a lot easier to make money 20 years ago on the stock market than it is today. I have a good friend who's given up investing a few years ago, I'm beginning to understand why. Once I get my cash back I might just join him.

Agreed, I also won't be jumping ship. What's reassuring to see is Jansen putting his money £2mln where is mouth is and putting two fingers up at the so called experts, I have every confidence that I will see a return on my BT investment, it may take a year or two, I'm in no hurry to sell. BT will come good. the patient BT investor will be handsomely rewarded.
