Fleccy, I don't mind admitting that a lot of this fibre cable talk is way over my head, but thought I would ask this question anyway, would it be possible to extract the old copper wiring once fibre has been installed and switched over from the old copper wire, it then becomes obsolete? Kerching maybe? Or would it be too expensive in man hours to extract?

Fleccy, I agree with you, you're quite right regarding the BS media, I always take what they say with a large pinch of salt. The the best thing to do is just keep focused on what BT say. As for retail investors that might be foolishly scared into selling their shareholding on the back of such media propaganda, well quite frankly deserve all they get, they should do their own research.

Djframboise, good to hear mate that your strategy is working for you. Whatever works for you keep doing it. Maybe I gave up short-term trading too early. My capital invested, I don't need so I just invest over the long-term, mainly for the dividend income. GL and stay safe.

Fleccy, we're all speculating but do you think that the withdrawal of the H2 dividend cash saved could be used against fending off a potential bid/deal? I would have thought that Jansen would have wanted to keep hold of Openreach, BT's crown jewel/cash cow.

Djframboise, I tried trading 30 odd years ago mate, I don't mind admitting that I wasn't very good at it, I found that with trading you may get lucky 4, 5.6. times, eventually a trader will either get stuck in a share, with the share price dropping below your entry price, or if you sell for a profit, the share then breaks out of it's trading range and leaves you behind. I learnt many moons ago that you will never second guess the market. For 30 odd years I've been a medium to long-term investor, I always invest in good dividend paying companies. It's served me well over the years. Having said all that I'm stuck in ITV now, but these are unprecedented times. But each to their own. Just my opinion of cause.

There's usually no smoke without fire. The Sunday papers will be all over this. Something is brewing, we just don't know what yet. Could this speculation flush out any other interested parties? Time will tell, not a time to be short on BT.

Smaltrader. That's the life of a day trader, most day traders lose their shirt. second guessing what the market is a very hard/lucky job to do.

I'm sure that you must be right Fleccy, there must be some cause in there somewhere because I'm sure that the BT wealthy directors wouldn't be so foolish to risk insider trading, this would carry a stint inside.

I must admit it doesn't look good for the directors, (buying BT shares) if the FT article is correct that BT have been in talks for 3 weeks regarding a possible sale of a share in Openreach.

It's alright for some, they all knew about the bloody dividend cut. Jobs for the boys, while small shareholders lose our dividend.
