"I've given a lot of thought about the future direction of Telecom stocks and generally they have significant importance in the future connected world. 5G and FTTP are going to lead to a fully connected world around IOT and universal remote management. FTTP will take care of the connected home with everything from TV going totally online and appliances automatically updating software and ordering consumables. We already have connected appliances and remote control of security and heating through applications like Hive.
The bottom line is that the UK/World are moving to a fully connected future in all respects and that requires Telecoms to allow everything to work. Every single connected company requires access through Telecom Infrastructure, without the Telecom Infrastructure the Online world collapses and since BT own a full spectrum of assets in the UK they have valuable assets."

I agree with you Fleccy, even though I don't mind admitting I'm not has knowledgeable of the telecoms infrastructure and sector as your good self, from your previous comments I understand that you had a career in the industry and worked for a period of time at Vodafone. I will take your word for it (the above comments), and try and understand and appreciate your comments, as always. I just see value in BT and intend holding for however long it takes for the market to revalue BT to what I think it's worth. Cheers.

I couldn't agree more. BT Market Cap today stands at £10.99bln with a P/E of just 5.09. The valuation just doesn't make sense. For crying out loud BT paid £12.5bln just for EE. Yes the doomsters will point to the increase in BT debt, but still taking everything in to account BT are a screaming buy. Or am I missing something?

If you were an ITV shareholder you would have not made this amateur comment, you would have known that the dividend had already been cancelled. I strongly suspect you're like a lot of recent posters trying to cause panic on these discussion boards with comments aimed at inexperienced investors. What beggars belief is the idiots that recommend such drivel. Nothing that anyone says on these discussion boards will make any difference to the share price of a FTSE100 company, you're just wasting your time, and mine having read such rubbish.

I've read an article today about the Corna virus effecting football crowds, with matches being played behind closed doors, and speculating that fans won't be going to matches until a vaccine is available for everyone. This will disrupt fans attending matches for the remaining season and probably all next season and possibly the summer 2021 Euro Championships, while this is very bad news for football clubs, this in my opinion will benefit SKY and BT Sports channels, obviously the only way football fans are going to be able to watch their teams will be through SKY or BT. I'm expecting a big increase in new subscribers for SKY & BT Sport. Ka-ching.

Regarding the football Riffgo, I can see all Premier League games (every game) being shown on SKY & BT to stop fans going to the stadiums even though the games will be played behind closed doors. This could go on until a vaccine is available for everyone, I cannot see any other way around it.

Toff, nothing would surprise me in these volatile markets, it would seem that valuations of companies have gone out of the window. What would BT be worth if broken up? A lot more than what the market is valuing BT today. At least double I would think. Crazy, just crazy valuations.

After recent declines, it looks as if the BT share price is indeed cheap. The stock is trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 5.1. That’s compared to its long-term average P/E of nearly 10.

Not sure that I would want to invest in any supermarket through this current pandemic. Profits have got to be hit. Don't be fooled by seeing large queues of people queuing outside of supermarkets, and think that the supermarkets must be doing well. When you eventually get inside them there is hardly any customer in them. Supermarkets are also having to employ people for extra security with people entering and exiting the supermarkets. I can see big profit warnings around the corner.

Someone pointed out earlier this week that Lamtree may have been suspended or even banned from this discussion board. With no recent comments from Toff this week I'm beginning to wonder if they're one of the same, or is it down to the rise in the BT share price for them keeping a low profile.

ITV are dirt cheap IMHO. With Q1 results out next week, ITV could be about to be re-rated.

Philip Jansen, who was infected with coronavirus last month, said his company would do “everything we can” to support employees.

“For the foreseeable future – at least the next three months – no BT, Openreach, EE or Plusnet colleague will lose their job as a result of the changing trading conditions brought about by coronavirus. That’s a promise,” Mr Jansen wrote in a letter to staff on Monday.

On the 7th May BT Annual Results day, I think that the H2 dividend will be held at 10.78p, with an announcement that future dividends will be rebased from 15.40p, to 10.00p for the full year going forward. The market will like this outcome. Just my opinion of cause.
