I'm surprised that astute investor Warren Buffett hasn't moved in to BT. IMO, BT has great potential with fibre & 5G on the horizon. With future cost savings of £1 billion from year 2023, this increases further to £2 billion from 2025. Not forgetting new investor Patrick Drahi who has become BT's largest investor with 12.11%, pipping Deutsche Telekom's 12.08%. There is the potential of a takeover involving both of BT's largest shareholders. But taking a long-term view, BT is cheap and will grow going forward, so I see it as a win win situation.

Bkkb, I think that there is more chance that they will make a joint bid. Drahi want's Openreach, while DT maybe interested in the rest. Neither will want a bidding war. The regulator may prefer a joint bid. IMO.

Bkkbkk, IMO, I don't think that BT will give an update regarding talks with Dazn & BT Sport. I think that the next announcement will be regarding an agreement of sale or that talks have stopped without an agreement.

Nice strong move up (2.6%) in the ITV share price today, maybe the market sees ITV purchasing CH4? A rerating is over due, I'm hoping that CH4 could be the catalyst.

SM, IMO, FWIW, if BT receives a takeover offer I think that you will have no worries mate, I would be shocked if the BOD recommended an offer of less than £3 per share. the minimum I would expect would be £3 per share. Just my opinion of course.

I would hazard a guess at between £4B & £6B for BT Sport.
This would be very a welcome cash boost towards FTTP.

Hi Solley, I hope that you're right mate. I've just lost a bit of confidence in the ITV BOD with the constant daily share price falls, and management always seem to be over cautious. Maybe Carolyn is playing things down before ITV make a bid for CH4? Who knows, we need something to improve the outlook for this company.

Same here Janus, Carolyn McCall and her sidekick Chris Kennedy are certainly half glass full kind people, who always play things down. I can only think so as not to disappoint the market and protect their jobs. Whenever I watch CNBC and watch USA CEO's report their results they are always upbeat and sell the company, you cannot help from being impressed with their ambition and positive attitude, this gives confidence to the market. Sadly we have the opposite at ITV. Something needs to change at ITV either a management change or a takeover otherwise we will just limp along.

ITV still uncertain on ad market outlook - CEO

CAMBRIDGE, England (Reuters) - The chief executive of British commercial broadcaster ITV said ad markets remained uncertain despite a bounceback in spending by companies in recent months.

“There’s definitely a bounceback, and it’s very buoyant at the moment and that’s been really fantastic, but I think there is quite an element of bounceback in there and I hope that will last,” Carolyn McCall said at the Royal Television Society Convention in Cambridge on Wednesday.

She said ITV did not know how winter would pan out yet or what would happen next year.

“So I think there still remains uncertainty,” she told an audience of TV executives.

“I’m fine with uncertainty because I think we have a robust business and we actually have a more resilient business now than we did when we went into lockdown and so I think we can absorb the uncertainty, we just have to keep moving ahead.”

ITV said in July it expected ad revenue that month to be up 68%, August up 17% and September to be positive.
