I think wilful is a more appropriate than ‘guilty’ for reasons already discussed. I think it’s likely that this was a wilful act and I expect the jury to sentence them to 2 years. I mean $2bn dollars in damages.

I think the US correlation is the most likely explanation for this ‘sudden’ rise. The more people understand the various gateposts that Nanoco has successfully navigated whilst Samsung fall into traps the clearer it’s becoming that the finishing line is in sight. Or at least one of the finishing lines of it goes to trial and we win there will be an attempt at a rerun.

The run rate is high but lawyers don’t come cheap last I heard! I get the impression they are speculating to accumulate. There’s £50m booked…..how would the results look if that fell in this period ? I’m pretty sure there are a few big potential wins in this relatively new business model. I’m holding.

There’s so many potential outcomes on the win side it’s no surprise that there are so opinions as to how it may play out.

There’s less on the lose side…..from Nanoco’s perspective that is, and other than appealing what else can they do?

If Samsung are found to be ‘guilty’ they’ll appeal the same we Nanoco would.

But I’d have to say in my opinion if guilty, then it’s pretty egregious. Samsung have created an entire genre of very profitable (one assumes) TV’s using potentially stolen IP. The damages could be significant.

Perhaps I’m wrong. But tell me how a bunch of randoms pitching up at court without any knowledge of which case they’ll be picked for, if they’re picked will have any prior knowledge about a case between a small company based in Manchester and Samsung?
The judge will likely instruct the jurors not to discuss any elements of the case with anyone including family members. This also extends to watching the news and anyone caught doing so can be taken off the case.

The Jury will know nothing about this ‘battle’ pre trial and they are unlikely to see any media about it during in my opinion for obvious reasons.

Surely we all have our views on everything. Rarely do they match up. The fact the someone’s doesn’t suit the potentially overly optimistic rhetoric shouldn’t be discouraged. In fact quite the opposite.
