Re. the SP drop, the dividend has been halved, that can't help!

I sold a few at 118 in April, so will buy them back in the morning I think.

Is this an indication that war might come to an end, lowest price for while.

Be good if that happens, even if not got for PMG and the son and buzzy, still they should be used to it!!!

It's certainly maintaining it god. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you pick cleverly, it's nice when you get both. Except I have sold too many, once had over 1000 of these now down below 100, still they are worth best part of £25k, for my roughly £2500 invested and I have cashed in more than that, but wow if I had hung onto the 1000. Still I didn't and I'm not complaining (much).

I only noticed today that Paul Hooper has retired. As a shareholder here almost continuously since I began investing in 2008 I am sad and a little worried to see him go.

Of course he deserves his retirement I am sure and I have to thank him for the money being here has made me. Quite likely one of my best if not the very best investments I have made.

I am surprised how little reaction to the CEO change there has been, which I have to assume is good!

Obviously a good appointment, hope it goes as well as the last many years.

Well danielh you have been a long term holder! Twice as long as I have held any sort of shares.

I think the buybacks in what you are saying are not relevant, Vodafone should be committed to canceling those shares or it is a break of faith.

I'm saying this and haven't read the buyback announcement, but I would imagine so.

Anyway I am just saying my opinion, I am not a rocket scientist but was good at maths once.

If we say VOD is the shareholders, they have benefited from SP increase, this is always must be the case.

If Vodafone is allowed to trade those shares it has bought back they will benefit if sold at a better price, I'm just not sure they are allowed to sell them?

Danieth, when companies do buybacks the idea is to cancel those shares, so the shares in circulation become worth more, less shares divided into market capital! This is kind of as the company has spent money on those shares so has spent some of it's capital.

Anyway my point is VOD will not have gained anything on the shares it bought back as it is not holding them!

What is going on here, does anybody have any idea? Something feels odd to me!

So now have had chance to vote on this WSP offer and the court hearing thing.

I voted against as I think RCDO fair value is higher than the offer, my guess is about 600.

I think it was potentially worth more not so long back maybe 800/1000, but has depreciated somewhat, not entirely sure why, but I guess you have to blame management.

I think that management now sees this as an opportunity to get out with their pockets still fat, so are just grasping it.

I also do not like this old company attached to an engineering name I know well being sold in this way.

And of course it is a British company going to Canada, a friend but still foreign.

And lastly I nearly always vote against what any board recommends as a matter of principle.

The only board I know that might have been any good was the one I was once chairman of.

Even that wasn't all that.

I know it's pretty obvious, but the only way the price would make sense is if another offer is considered possible.

This would be higher? And so WSP could and might increase their offer.

I have no knowledge this is happening, but somebody must have or think they have.

My shares held with ii have been changed to IDSA and unable to trade for some time now. It may be I could have traded if I rang up but I could not do online. I already had sold most of my shares and just left with £2-3k worth to see if things went well.

On the when thing, there is an article in the Guardian today saying that the Gov review which was scheduled to be complete in September is still ongoing! The article goes on to point out the various deals that Kretinsky and his oppo Tkac have been involved in connected to the Rus. So perhaps a little dodgy and not best for security?

There should be no big surprise here, a lot of ex iron curtain 'businessmen' in the 90's were little more than thugs who managed to gain control of various countries resources, a bit like privatisation with a gun or concreted barrel to chuck you in a reservoir, behind it. Same rip off of the people. Still I don't see it stopping things, our politicians aren't that much different, at least those who end up in the big jobs. It's the world we live in, now we are just helping with the laundering!!

I seem to have lost track of what is happening to IDS and my shares in them.

I hold then on ii and they show now as IDSA, and seem untradeable.

They have a price and an oveall value showing.

Though that is not my question, if anyone knows more on IDSA shares I would appreciate info.

My main thing is I would like to know when things will come to a head as far as the Kretinsky bid goes, so I can trade again or have the money?

I have had little info. from Interactive, I am not even sure I have seen a corporate action!

I realise I could probably track down this information, but it does not appear obvious anywhere I've looked.

I must admit I have not put an enormous effort in, but am hoping it will be relatively simple for someone to fill me in.

Nvidia earnings always likely to disappoint as expectations had got over hyped. All the big players are established customers, MS, Meta etc. They actually were fantastic figures at least would have been without such a high bar. But that's the way the stock market crumbles. The question is now will the share price just stumble or will it tumble? Will thos big customers keep on buying, only if AI is making them buckets. Nvidia needs smaller business as well and lot's of it if growth to be maintained, is that likely?

I am wondering now whether to hang in for what hopefully will be a good dividend. ALU has usually been pretty good on them, so might with good results see a bit more.

I'll probably top slice as I am in a programme of selling up anyway, buying a house soonish.

And I can never make my mind up about these things, so may well cover a bit on both possibilities.

This has been a great share to own over the years, one of my very early buys, attracted by the dividend and the products.

Nicer rise today! For me at least.
