As you and I know, when stories like this surface you have to read behind the headlines .....

Exxon, would not just STOP looking at the odd one or two, but their eye would be across all assets that fulfill, or the potential to fulfill their growth strategy. Without a doubt, imo Exxon have looked at BP and already passed the slide-rule over her.

The counter side is, BP must also know they are now in play too themselves, question is will it be hostile or not.... if hostile what is their defense, other than share buyback !!

Major consolidation to occur 21/22 imo across the sector as it prepares itself for change .... BP will, in some form or another be part of that.

Sit back and wait, but makes sure you are fully loaded beforehand.

Remember, our SP is just off generational lows ....

You would be looking at ~£307 gain, as you need to take account of compound effect too should you DRIP (less nominal costs). As an income, then yes £300pa (£75 x 4) ..... dependent upon your tax situation of course.

We all know the O&G company structure on how they have operated for the past +70 years is about to fundamentally change. Your idea is inline with mine .... as sure as night follows day, the transformation will occur why not the way you and I have just mentioned. Has to be a win, win from so many angles ... think it's just a case of 'watch this space' as we know NOC/IOC think many years ahead ..... fascinating to watch how the Saudi's are going to transform their reliance over the next decade or so too.

Corp Tax will go up first ... that will be more than enough for companies to deal with given the torrid 12 months they have had to endure.

Just to clarify ..... the shorts will close before the announcement is upon us and longs would already been opened as the NDA's are useless.

Just need to get hold of Reddit ...... let them know the situation .... could do with a 800% rise !!

If shorts are so, why .... if anything, they are looking for a rapid, and I mean rapid climb in SP .... the only way that ever happens if an offer comes in for the company .. !!!

We know EXXON and CHEVRON wanted the merge last year but was called off by US regulator .... so IMO, one or the other took a liking to BP as the alternative .... markets know that and are playing it their way as you would expect. All I can say is those NDA's need to be looked at again !!

I will continue to add as the SP falls and cash allows .... don't care about cut hands as BP could surprise us at any moment.

Nothing more than MM/PE/HF all know that once the brakes are off with world economies, balanced with reduced production capacity (and Saudi help), POO will fly .... All the spivs are doing is preparing the ground to make as much as they can .... O&G will be black gold once more.

I still think this will be 450p by end of 2021.... if not then either Exxon OR Chevron will be our new owners.

I must add, I see no reason at all why they should not, at minimum retain the dividend at 3p/s

The only reason would be a cash requirement for another acquisition ... that said, I would guess the market would still only pick out the negative for their headlines.
