A profit warnings is measured against earnings...but the guidance was against "adjusted earnings " ....in which they are saying that because of added CAPEX on R&D the figure than the analysts had pencilled in....it is like saying there will be added exceptionals to come out of the top line profit earnings ...except this "exceptional" is investment in the business ....

12 months ago ... we were at ~1800p/s, down ~30% already for a FTSE UK Plc share ... madness.

Also profits will be affected as more than normal is invested R&D in 2021, usual requirement for a drug company so noting to worry about imo.

Agree, lower earnings that Emma indicated does NOT automatically translate to a profit warnings ... unless you are a hack wanting to keep the SP under pressure.

Exactly, for 0.5% they can hold up to ~25,000,000 shorts (or £325,000,000) for which they pay a nominal sum to loan them out multiply that across the numerous players in the short market and that then becomes a massive amount.

FTSE company, a flagship of UK PLC ..... Mcap DOWN £4bn today ... unreal to think the harrisholes will bag min £4bn on the way down and then on the way up again..... Think we need the Reddit boys.

WTI up almost 10% over the last four sessions ...... translate that extra $5/barrel into bottom line ..... yet we are still struggling to keep our head above water here ....

WTI 12 month high, yet BP need ~100% increase to return to our 12 month high !!!!

Two good posts ..... it is always an easier sell to your own shareholders an acquisition that uses treasury shares rather than actual cash / debt, particularly in these times.

I'm sure GLEN would then want to flip / recover their costs and some more in a smallish window too.

Easier for negotiations when you can offer 100% of something, rather than 50% + 1 share.

To me its clear that SP manipulation has been occurring for many, many months here .... why !!!

BP, sound business that is lowering its opex with every disposal, streamlining the business, offering dividend and share buyback with their massive FCF.

BP will be taken over / merged and the market knows this, it's just that talks are not that far advanced for shorter's to ease off yet and close too many positions ..... in the meantime drive the SP DOWN ready to load up before news leaks.

Ultra cheap money, massive QE and low Mcap's will facilitate this
