@hounddog - yes as an addition to an already available PUDO or locker network, great, but not as your first and only option as with Doddle, lockers lockers more lockers and PUDO please RM, get the prime locations first, dont run before you can walk!
@Oligarch - the city train station where i am is awful to get to, its in area that is mainly one way on the edge of the city centre and awful to drive to, if your a commuter or pensioner with discount rail card and getting it on your way HOME (thats x % of the population that fall into those categories) else you got to lug the parcel about all day with you, great idea...
Most people arent commuters or retired or students, most people do require food unless your a robot (exterminate) so the logical place to put them is where everyone HAS to go, thats food and retail parks, shopping malls.
Trains are also hugely expensive these days, it's x times costs more to use a green friendly train than it does to fly, i wonder why? So you can see that location only aooeals to a small % of the population, not much thought went into Doddle experiment and rightly it fell on its face.
You wont pursued your customers to go somewhere they dont need to, you have to put it right in front of their face to get them take the bait, just like fishing! :))
Doddle - yes chose great locations for PUDO, train stations with busy car parks, pay and display and ANPR, the most ridiculous place to put a parcel point, used it twice and was not impressed.
Now lockers at places where you ARE likely to go makes all the difference, spacious car parks at supermarkets, no pay and display, and somewhere where you are likely to go on your average day.
Yes the price here is cheap but it comes with risk, thats why its been sub £1, now the rest if just gambling its going to recover and you pumpers trying to drum up the fear of missing out sitting with your fingers over the sell button.
Been around the block a million times heard it and seen it all before ;-)
Thank you Hounddog, excellent research as always you certainly live up to your name! Not really any research from here on my part just my experience going from several years back, being part of the gig economy i was curious about those Amazon lockers when they came out and frowned on it, i then tried one and thought how easy it was and have never looked back. I then discovered 'send' lockers which are also extremely convenient, even now if im receiving an item and i i know i am at home i rarely get it delivered to door, normally to local PO just down the road that way i dont have to mess about going down to the front gate, i live in an apartment block on upper floors as many do in city centres. I just send and collect everything all from one place at the same time, its easy and at my leisure allowing me to be here if needed or out on-site on a job.
We may even find that every retailer will be forced to have their own in store lockers at some point, Matalan have become part of the DPD's parcel collection drop off points, they also have Amazon lockers in store. RM should really get a move on with this as others wont wait around to suck up the business space.
Will have a good read on those links a bit later thanks.
For those flipping a few here and there, what is your ideal trade size with your broker and not get hit with a reduction in the sell price offered?
I play around with the size for dummy sells and atm around 20000 shares is a sweet spot with my broker, hardly any discount on that size and a lot smaller, says to me they want the shares! Dont be fooled by the algo's go slow mode, its a game to wear you out, morgan stanley are in the know and Oligarch is moaning again! Hold for gold!
@TMS those inpost lockers are not that reliable, handy when they work but need improvement, one time i went to use it having paid to send the parcel and label and i was unable to put it into any locker, this was at 4 locations in my city, found out they had a network problem which outed the system nationally for many days.
If RM had one person man\operate a larger collection point say the size of MACD's (the burger place not indicator )im sure it could cut down on postman hours and workforce, it could also compete for much larger parcels with the bigger couriers. the sort that have to be delivered, possibly even pallets!
My idea was hubs at the retail parks, they soon wack up a ronald macdonalds, why not an RM mini Collection Point hub for the shoppers, most people go out daily or every other day for shopping etc and have one close to them, those living in cities anyway.
Oligarch thats my idea and comes with an annual license fee, but you missed one critical factor its not in your 15\20 minute bubble zone, it has to be in the new mini city zones and reachable by foot, if you go outside of this zone your CBDC and social credit score app X will not work, your identity wont be able to be verified and no parcel collection will be possible. There is possibility of a drone delivery though, at extra cost of course ;-)
