Get a grip people! if you valued the stock at more than you bought it, and there is no news to change that opinion, then surely you must have some faith that the mighty blue will prevail. Its amazing how quickly the panic seems to decend. Don't gamble what you can't afford on volitile stocks, and if you can afford it, have a little faith in your decision making! Its always going to be red some days, and if you panic when it goes red, youre going to lose the game, surely...
Be positive, trust your own decisions, make informed choices, not emotional ones!
I appriciate the insite and lack of sass... lol
I understand that shares fluctuate, and I appriciate I have bought into very much a "make or break" period for ASOS stock. I have a small position, and as I have said, for me its about learning how this all works with a turbulent stock.
All I really wanted to understand is WHY there are such volitile bounces, when there isn't any news or update that would devalue the stock by that amount. Lets take the 10% swings you suggested occur; how can the value of a position swing by 10% in a day without any change in the circumstances for the bussiness?
This might clarify what I am asking a bit more.
Im not winding anyone up. I just bought a small position at about 340p as I saw it was down low and thought it might be interesting to learn about trading on (hence I am here).
The bulk of my money, and my reguarly savings, go into an index fund, as I am well aware of my lack of knowledge!
I just haven't seen it cascade down before like that.
Out if curiosity, as a noobie to this, what does cause the volatility we see each day. I understand how updates and news would effect the sp, but why do we see +/-1% traded every day? Surely people either want to buy and await the next update, not they don't?
I do appriciate this is total naivety, but I want to learn.
I read this earlier. I actually found it very uninsightful. All of the info stated in from the last update, and it never really gives a straight answer on whether they think its a good buy or not.
I understand nobody knows what will happen, but if you never pin your colours to the mast and cast an opinion, you'd never buy anything..
Hi, i am very new to all of this, so forgive me ignorance.
Could you explain how charting the graph gives you a sense of the future? Surely the future SP will rise/fall based on news, events and results, and not the previous path of a line?
I am genuinely curious.
This insite was really helpful. ASOS is my first single stock investment, as I have signed myself up to the dollar cost average index fund dogma for the bulk of my investing (i am young and it sounds attractive long term).
This message board has been hugely confusing. One minute the stock price is about to triple over night, the next we are going to 200p.
I have bought in between 334p and 400p, and fron what I have read, that seems like a sensible level to now stop and hold at.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where you all get infomation about trading updates, company news, holdings of the big players ect?
