fleccy, you are probably right the bean counters will find a way of doing a deal. I just had a look at the number of customers Vod have in India, see link below. That’s a lot of cash each month. If they upped the price of everyone’s contracts by a few rupees they’d soon recoup their money. They’ve got in the region of 333 million customers, so as I say I think they’ll squeal and moan but end up paying their fair due

TLW my sentiments completely. Whether the electronics could be used over here or not is another question. I would think though that their government would head that off at the pass pdq. There’s no easy answer to the problem but I would think the bod would put in place a staged withdrawal to minimise losses. Unless of course the whole board is suffering from ostrichism;-))). IMO of course

Since Vod, have joined a predominantly American syndicate to develop 5G tech etc it wouldn’t surprise me to see us side with the Americans. That way the information sharing would be above board (maybe) and no one having to conceal their hand. Only my opinion of course

Let me float a thought just for discussion purposes on the near term sp. I think (and this is the discussion point) that the sp will rise as we get closer to the tower company spin off. Who wouldn’t want to be in this as all of this happens. And of course the tower company too. This is all imo of course and based on nothing more than my twisted logic. Hopefully I’ll get a few constructive replies even if it is two words and two fingers:-))

Somebody suggested yesterday that the ongoing political situation in Russia would cause a wobble on the sp today. It looks like they are correct. It’s all sells at the moment, hopefully we’ll turn blue again soon. GLA

Something I have just noticed on Marks reply to me. There are 2 CCs on his reply, one to Market supervision enquiries and one to Mkt Srvs Market Monitoring. So as you suggested in your reply to me that I let the authorities know, and perhaps they will take a closer look at the goings on behind the scenes. Amazing what you find if you take the time to look.

Lloydyboy, I appreciate the reply. The picture is clearing a bit for me. However, if they are not buying any shares how do they keep themselves topped up enough to be able to carry on selling below the price of the other MMs.
In my case this a little knowledge is dangerous, and since I can't get this to sit comfortably in my knowledge bank its generating a lot of question which I'd like to get answered. Thanks for your patience . GLA

B1ll, it is a fair question that I wish we could answer with a degree of certainty . If it's not a suitor that's buying up in large amounts, who else would do it apart from MMs, but then that begs the question of why they wouldn't let it go for a higher sp as they would make money no matter what the situation. The spread would arguably remain relatively the same, so they would be in a win, win situation. In fact they would probably be better off as the volume of trades would increase both in buying and selling. So I ask again who else is buying in such large volumes that they want to keep their identity hidden?????

I hope I won't need one of those for a long while yet :-))))

DShox, I guess one question that we'd all love to see answered is, was it someone big buying the shares (i.e. potential suitor) or MM "managing his risk"

As you can see there are actually only two trades that were agreed after the close and these trades were OTC trades that are just being reported through the London Stock Exchange.

The other trades below were all agreed within the market hours but they had delayed publication. A member firm may elect to used deferred publication if certain conditions are satisfied – one of which is if the trade is large in scale, as the trades blow are – this is to allow some protection to the firms who have traded in this larger size, such as market makers who are providing liquidity, and allow them time to manage this risk.

Lloydyboy, I hope you don’t mind me asking the same questions as yesterday but if Peel are able to have such an effect on the sp and hold it back is it 1) they hold the most shares and therefore the most risk. 2) they take the risk of selling/buying themselves short or 3) none of those and its me that has a basic gap in my knowledge
