All very positive, I posted earlier this week that without news the latest, quicker, rise in RKH was all hot air (no disrespect to contributors here but we’ve seen it all before) but with the tone of this press release will, I believe, inspire some confidence. This share has been on a hair trigger for years. Will it take an FID for it to start to go up in a meaningful way? Maybe. Or will a smaller event, like a fairly innocuous, but positive, press release do it…or something in between?
As another thought, I can also see folks being hesitant to buy. Yep, fully get that…but to sell…what kind of trading theory would bring someone to sell…now?
@buzzthomas
I recall it being discussed a long time ago but at one point it was the value of the company if it wrapped up plus a bit more. Over the years I, and others, have gone over it on here (ok, mostly others!!) but that price basically discounted all the oil in the ground ever coming out of it. Or something like that…the economics of this if it happens are rather healthy to say the least. As many have said, it’s a binary play, it happen or it doesn’t, all or nothing.
Hi @buzzthomas
I’m not on the sidelines waiting to buy, I’ve own RKH shares for many years and have, in my terms, a significant holding and sum invested. But, as others, maybe yourself, I’ve seen these small rises come and go. Believe me, if this does go up no one would be happier!!
Maybe my post is more about managing expectations…especially my own…
Worth noting that RKH is in a very good place compared with a week ago though. We know the payout amount, we are getting interest on any delay. Italy may quibble, but I reckon the room for wiggle is limited from what I read. This may be, genuinely, a buying opportunity.
Even considering a fraction of the expected payout this company is dirt cheap plus you get a share of the oil in the ground for nearly free…the politics of hydrocarbons has been turned on its head in the last six months too…
So this payment plus interest will go onto the company’s balance sheet whilst overheads are already trimmed to the bone. Yes, there remains a query over the potential of annulment but this is a case that has had an appeals process completed already.
So, has this basket case of a company and situation changed into a golden egg but everyone is so bruised and battered by its history that few can see it? Numerous people have calculated the value and most are roughly twice the price it is at now…
Is the first sign of the wheels beginning to turn, this has to trigger an RNS surely..? Have they got finance together??…no point actually doing something unless they have…
But honestly, we all know the sales pitch, it’s why we are here, folks spent years (years and years) arguing on here about whether an oil price of 55 or 65 was enough and now it’s 100 USD a barrel…why wouldn’t they get investors? I also can’t see U.K. Gov spiking this when everyone has suddenly realised what the result is if you have your energy security balls to another country’s tight grip…
But we are all highly cynical, how many false dawns!!?
This time next year Rodney…
Oh, not a big one for politics on here but all power to the folks over in Ukraine. The longer this war takes the wobblier that throne Putin has built himself gets…
I don’t think anyone in Europe will disagree with that, the reality is biting home on two fronts. Europe, particularly Germany, is way too dependent on Russia and that the transition to green energy has, surprisingly, swung that way too quickly. This last point has been acerbated by the shutting down of nuclear power stations.
Thinking it through, if Russia invades Ukraine then sanctions come in. If that includes, presumably, something to do with reducing their gas out out then the price of energy is going to go crazy unless Saudi/OPEC opens the taps…
Ultimately, and I view this in a very biased way, it’s hard to not think that a source of energy in a safe, geo-politically remote location might start to become very attractive…
We don’t know, and I admit this is utter speculation, but if the OM decision was that RKH had lost or it was a minimal compensation settlement then I am pretty sure that they have that announced and out the door in a flash.
But they haven’t…
Harbour’s issues were due to be concluded by the end of the year. I’m sure I’m being simplistic but I’d have thought that the T and Cs of the break up would be in black and white as to what to have to do. So why hasn’t this been completed and everyone moved on? There was no obligation, to my knowledge, on RKHs part other than wait to the end of the 90 day period (which coincided with the end of the year).
So, my thought today was, what if Harbour are having second thoughts? Would they, could they, be back peddling? Is that even possible?
Happy New Year to you all,
We’ve all seen this said before about the “next year being the year things start to happen” but I think that, in all likelihood, 2022 should bring us some movement forward.
The end of the year, as far as I can recall, marks the end of the period where Harbour have to be out (3 months or 90 days, I can’t recall the wording) so, I guess, we may start the year with some sort of RNS to that effect and maybe some other news of the further plans will be included.
Anyhoo, Happy New Year to you all, I’m offshore so you can all indulge a little extra on my behalf…and have a bit of fun dreaming of Paul Drayton’s share price target for us all..!
This time next year Rodney…
Well, I’m utterly intrigued to see how this goes this week.
We’ve, sort of, been here before. A bit of goodish news offering ‘potential’ but…maybe not quite signed and
sealed, just enough of a taste of elderado but no sign of
the shiny stuff. The share price rises a bit, it gives us LTH a flicker of hope that this time a bit of momentum might build, that this time might be different, lots of random new names on the forum start having random conversations with themselves…and then it peters out, the buzz dies and we drift down again and Godders turns up, like some sort of soggy fire blanket, tamping down even the most enthusiastic of share holders.
I bought last week for the first time in a long while as I felt it was a turning point. I think we will find out this week a lot about whether I was right or not.
Good luck…oh, and Hamilton was robbed…
