Nice try Wigster -- if only - we LTH's so need cheering up before this dissolves into a penny share. We have made so many excuses for RM's silence which is demeaning to shareholders. I hate to say it but this smacks of his last long quiet spell just before the SP crashed. I am sure someone in his position would have been able to throw us a few scraps by now without divulging any sensitive information -- there are ways! The man has lost all credibility. Frankly, I am preparing for the worst and have written this one off in my mind and this is hard for me to say!
I would have laughed at the thought but whilst RM maintains his lofty silence we cannot rule this out. Another month with no utterance is bound to drag the share down to unbelievable depths. I have virtually written this company off but hey, our BOD have done well out of it and shall if they manage to string this out for another few years so all credit to them. We are the mugs, not that RM cares a jot. Thought, I could cash in and treat the family to a weekend in the IOW!
James Wakefield biography
James Christopher Wakefield has been Independent Non-Executive Chairman at NOVACYT S.A. since 2014. He is Chairman of the Nomination Committee at the Company. He is an experienced private equity investor, having spent over 30 years in the finance industry. He has been involved with over 30 businesses of varying sizes and stages of development across a wide range of sectors, including board representation as chairman or nonexecutive director in a number of these. He is also Chairman of Promedics Orthopaedics Limited. He is Chairman of WestBridge Capital LLP of which he was a founder partner in 2008. He previously spent 18 years at Bridgepoint (previously NatWest Equity Partners) and prior to that, spent four years at NatWest Markets/NatWest Investment Bank. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School (AMP). Quite a pedigree but the last time I saw him -- I think before Salad man was appointed and GM was present, he did not exactly set the heather on fire and came across as a most uninspiring gentleman. We just have to hope and pray that our next CEO has some charisma, imagination and is a good communicator.
'Hoping that 'no news is good news.' -- It certainly wasn't this time last year and the complete lack of coms., ignoring these embarrassing Tweets, indicates the company does not think it has anything worthwhile to tell us which is deeply worrying. As Kaeren (I think) said a few weeks ago, it almost makes one wish GM was back in charge as the present 'lot' are coming across as naive - at least he had a certain spark about him compared to the present damp squibs!
Ventura1, stick around, the SP may gallop off one of these days. I see the over 70s or it it 75s are likely to have another booster in Spring and Autumn so there is still clearly a fear Covid could outflank the scientists and give many of us the trots.
wpa5 - 'and still haunt these corridors patiently (or not so patiently)'. A nice turn of phrase and I certainly fall into this category. However, if nothing significant breaks next RNS, I suspect many LTH's will give SNG up as a bad job as life is too short!
KT. I must have experienced a senior moment but the 4 part posting was an extremely articulate powerful analysis of why you still invested in Nova and your frustration concerning the crass stupidity of those who could not see further than their noses. I went to bed happy that night or was that the wine! Ring any bells? If not, the night is still young so I may open another bottle and see whether this mirage returns. I suspect NCYT is turning many LTHs to drink!
The wine in question was Victory Hotel Chardonnay Semillon 2022, quite a nice tipple. Normally prefer red but the cellar (man shed) is rather bare. Hopefully Nova's next report will allow me to completely restock with the finest wine money can buy.... hollow laugh!
... but last night around 6 pm, I read a 4 page excellent summing up post from Kilkenny Ted which appears to have disappeared. Perhaps it was an old post. Anyone else see this? Perhaps that bottle of wine was stronger than I thought!
Nova negativity is so well reflected in the lack of posters on this forum now. Gone are the days when we eagerly tuned in early each morning. I think last weekend was blank - a first surely! You've got to hand it to them, however, in their skill at suffocating shareholders' interest in the company. Their Tweets are lamentable and my cat could do better. The silence is so reminiscent of last time when we had that fateful RNS. I am almost warming to salad man, sniff and all :)
Could it be that we are all so blinded... or most genuine holders are.. that the reason for the frustrating lack of any news is simply because there isn't any however much we want there to be! Have we fallen into the trap of 'the emeporer's new clothes ' old tale of being so desperate and have convinced ourselves that SNG is somehow gloriously adorned with news which, in their case will be revealed soon. I hate to say it but I feel us LTHs are going to be bitterly disappointed with RMs next statement. I am holding on to shares like grim death but fear the worst and that I have fallen into this trap
I cannot see this lot wanting a face to face with flesh and blood shareholders do you? They clearly despise such mortals and find them an irritant. I wonder if any of the BOD ever tune in here - if so they must by now have the hide of a rhinoceros. Just hope our new CEO is more human with some charisma and imagination. I suspect he or she might just visit this sight to get a feel of things and realise the job on their hands.
Tommy_D: Yes the silence is damming. Human nature as it is usually assumes there is some exciting news to come -- it's only a matter of time.. it's in the pipeline etc. LTHs of Novacyt have been and still are in a similar position -- waiting, waiting and waiting, full of expectation that some good news HAS to be forthcoming but then the shock when the company HAD to announce update which was gut wrenching awful and many of us , like SNG have lost fortunes. NCYT BOD are proving disastrous and worse than pathetic on the comms front. I had hoped RM would have been able to throw us a little bone by now. However, for both companies I have to face the facts that perhaps there s NO good news - painful as it is!
The_Paladin: I think you encapsulate the wishes of most of the LTH's here! We sorely need a break from this long running miserable saga. Oh for a ray of sunshine from RM who is normally an upbeat character but I guess he is keeping his cards close to his chest, paranoid of another false dawn! Reading between the lines I sense there is a now glimmer of hope but boy isn't it like pulling hens' teeth!
What is Nova's involvement if any in testing for Avian flu nowadays? I seem to recall around 2 years ago we introduced two new RUO PCR tests for avian influenza. Avian influenza is headline news now sadly with tens of millions of deaths worldwide spreading to some mammals. Surely we were at the forefront on this important issue at one time or has this now been sidelined. Must confess I am totally out of touch but it does not appear to get much coverage from Nova - like most other things!
