If the Gov. can order businesses to close down e.g. 90% of the UK economy, then I'm sure the Gov can "persuade" banks to defer/pass dividends at the moment.
Maybe banks are going to need all the cash they can get hold of.

Who knows? The other day everything , even Carnival, bounced up 20, 30 %.
It's just not for me at the mo. Every sector is under threat - even food producers (raw materials going up) food retailers - increased costs , risk of gov interference etc. Transport - cut throat competition.
Is there any sector looking attractive apart from a lotery ticket style biotech punt on a virus treatment, cure?
It's just survival at the moment if you are an investor and waiting for some sign that commerce can restart.

Official london stock exchange site records a trade at 16.03.51 of 10000 shares at 1302p worth £13,020 so this site does have some missing trades

lse is a bit cr@ p at present. It usually gives up recording trades at about midday so it did well today.
The number of trades may include previous days.

Easy for Piers to say shut down a whole industry. He's a key worker (journalist) so he can come and go as he pleases and it wont cost a penny out of his pocket.

I have seen Italy and I made the point that its health system seems to be overwhelmed and something seriously wrong is going on ovet there as regards their ability to cope.
Whatever the UK gov does it will be criticised for inaction or overreaction depending on next few days case stats which will show if we are going the same way as Italy France Spain and now USA.
