Skier.
The consumer pays the tariff, America tried similar moves during the depression and it did not work then.
The deficit that he blames others for is what American politicians voted for, the congress is bought and paid for by the wealthy and big business they could raise taxation, to which the wealthy and the companies would have to contribute, so they get their puppets to vote to borrow the additional money.
The American people or some of them believe that they can go back to manufacturing in the old style but of course that will not happen. Automation has put a stop to that in any wealthy country, the Per Capita GDP between China and America shows that. No company would be able to pay Americans to put those little screws into Iphones as one of Trumps idiots suggested that they would. And the man making that suggestion is a billionaire !
Trump lied when he said that he success in getting TSMC to move semi-conductor production to the USA, they were already making the move and they are moving to Japan also, the reason in case China invades Taiwan !! moving for security reasons not tariffs. Trump is as I write costing the USA billions in lost revenue from the collapse of tourism alone an industry which earns over $2 trillion per year as up until last march lost 12% and is rising. Sales of Boeing aircraft are going nowhere but down .
He has gone quiet on Canada and Greenland because he knows he has shot his bolt on them..
Foreigners are off loading American treasuries, so where will they borrow ? printing money on its way back in America.
He is going to cost the American defence industry billions, which is a major employer in several states .
Those sackings of federal employees is a mirage, the 50 combined States employ many more civil servants then the Federal
government does.
Trump is single handed turning the USA into a backwater of the near future.
PS On trumps assertion that NATO never paid its way, that is the way America wanted it, far easier to draw others into its wars and to dominate the narrative as they promoted the growth of the EU from the 1950s. It can all be checked.
