Well who needs a ship yard or steel works when you are a Service Driven economy all you need is an ever increasing population to buy and sell things to each other. Why bother making cars to sell to each other when you can sell a cup of imported coffee for £7 to someone and they can sell you an imported T shirt for £7 . Why make Micro Chips when you can make Walkers Crisps! and pay a millionaire to advertise them for you, how many additional packets of crisps did Walkers need to sell /increase the price of, just to pay for the advertising alone. Want growth import more people, who will sell more imported stuff to each other on an ever greater scale, in theory, but theory is just that theory. All those immigrants send vast amounts of money home in 2023 it was £10 billion alone. Ten billion that was not being used to drive growth here, but in Pakistan, India and Nigeria being the main destinations for these remittances . So employers get cheap labour that under cuts the British worker, they can not live on the money paid to immigrants, they claim benefits, they then get called work shy for not working for subsistence wage. So billions paid out in benefits, immigrants working for low wages get tax credits and benefits, billions of pounds exported via remittances . Billions of pounds spent on those crossing the channel alone, try and add up the total money we actually borrow yearly just to throw it away !
As I keep saying we are bankrupt, bankrupted by inept civil servants who manipulate politicians, who can only think no more than the next election.
We see the Look no further than the next election being played out even now with Starmers dance of the flip flop, a man and a government out of his and their depth. Now we have a chancellor trying to force people to divert their savings into the Stock exchange a moribund stock exchange within a moribund country a recipe for total destruction and civil unrest, take advice from a proven economic liar called Reeves if you wish.
