Outlook QinetiQ has delivered a strong first half performance in challenging markets and achieved a position of net cash on its balance sheet - an important milestone in the transformation of the Group. The Organic-Plus programme, the next strategic phase announced in May 2012, is now being implemented to grow QinetiQ's sustainable earnings and build value over the medium term. Visibility remains much lower than usual, particularly in the US. Despite this uncertainty, with the benefit of the strong first half performance the Board believes the Group as a whole will perform in line with its expectations for the year, absent any material change in customer requirements.

Founder shareholders in Local World include Artefact Group, an Investment Fund associated with Lord Ashcroft, Daily Mail and General Trust, Odey Asset Management and Yattendon Group. David Montgomery will be appointed as Chairman of Local World and the business will be managed by Steve Auckland, currently Chief Executive of Northcliffe, as Chief Executive Officer and Rachel Addison, currently Group Finance Director of Northcliffe, as Chief Financial Officer. TRINITY MIRROR INVESTMENT IN LOCAL WORLD Further to the announcement made on 29 October 2012 regarding a possible minority interest investment, Trinity Mirror today announces it has exchanged contracts to acquire a 20% equity interest in Local World Limited ('Local World') - a new company created to acquire and operate the regional publishing assets currently owned by Northcliffe Media Limited ('Northcliffe') and Iliffe News & Media Limited ('Iliffe'). Local World is acquiring the regional publishing assets of the Northcliffe and Iliffe businesses and will have an agreed enterprise valuation of circa £100 million at completion. On a pro forma basis, Local World would have reported revenues of £273 million and operating profit of £21 million for the twelve months ended 30 September 2011, and would have had gross assets of £38 million at that date. The total consideration payable on completion by Trinity Mirror for its 20% equity interest will be £14.2 million in cash from existing resources. The investment is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of investment. The transaction is expected to complete around the end of the year after necessary employee consultation procedures have taken place.

Continental Coal Limited (ASX:CCC) ("Continental" or "Company") the South African thermal coal production, development and exploration company, is pleased to announce the preliminary results from optimisation work completed on the De Wittekrans Coal Project that has indicated the potential to substantially improve the project economics and reduce the capital expenditure required to bring the De Wittekrans Coal Project into production. In 2011 a Feasibility Study completed by independent mining consultants TWP Projects confirmed that the De Wittekrans Coal Project was both technically and economically viable. Based on a review of the study, management further identified the opportunity to potentially enhance the project returns through utilisation of existing coal wash plants and rail sidings in the vicinity of the De Wittekrans Coal Project. In the March 2012 quarter, the Company appointed mining consultant ECMA Consulting (Pty) Ltd to complete an initial infrastructure optimization study. Geological consultants Gemecs (Pty) Ltd were also enagaged to complete further coal product analyses that was to be used by the Company to determine whether the proposed 2 coal product mix in the 2011 Feasibility Study was the most optimal for the Project given the low primary wash plant yields used in the Feasibility Study and the increased demand from the Asian markets for a low grade export thermal coal product. The results of this initial optimsiation work have been received and have been incorporated into the 2011 Feasibility Study results and the indicative results are summarized below.

OPTIMISATION WORK ON DE WITTEKRANS COAL PROJECT IDENTIFIES OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE PROJECT ECONOMICS AND REDUCE CAPITAL AND FUNDING REQUIRED FOR FIRST PRODUCTION Key points: * Optimisation work on the 2011 De Wittekrans Feasibility Study demonstrates the opportunity to enhance the projects technical and financial fundamentals * Proposed exports of 2.4Mtpa of a thermal coal product, ideally suited for the Asian Coal Market, over an initial 30 year mine life * Capital costs and funding requirements forecast to reduce through utilization of existing coal wash plants and rail sidings and/or construction of the wash plant under a BOOM contract * Annual forecast thermal coal exports planned to increase from 0.8mtpa to 2.4Mtpa with total annual sales revenue forecast to increase by over 35% to up to approx. Silo G, (JP Morgan; syndicated loan) - Update Further to the announcement made on 26 October 2012, the Treveria G Lenders have today agreed to waive the requirement for repayment of the outstanding Silo G loan amounts until 30 November 2012. This waiver will allow more time for the in-principle agreed extension of the debt facility to be appropriately implemented.

Valuation: Big data milestone reached While we feel Hadoop prospects should be significantly enhanced by the deal, visibility is still low and our P&L estimates have not significantly changed, with WANdisco’s established Subversion business driving our expectation of 49% CAGR sales growth over the next three years. The current share price factors in more than this – a reverse DCF suggests 42% growth for five years beyond our forecast period at 33% EBITDA margins – but continued execution on the Hadoop opportunity could drive a significant acceleration or become of strategic interest. The valuation under such a scenario is anyone’s guess, but recent big data acquisitions, such VMWare’s acquisition of Nicera for $1.2bn, suggest that the current rating would not be perceived as an obstacle should WANdisco be identified as a strategic big data target.
