Standard Life Canada today announced its first Canadian dollar debt issuance raising C$400 million principal amount of 3.938% fixed/floating subordinated debentures with a first call date of 21 September 2017 (the "Debentures"). This initiative further optimises the financial structure of the Group and builds on past actions to re-shape our balance sheet. It helps to re-leverage the Group and, through our ability to access the debt markets in Canada, provides capital at a very attractive cost. The strong market demand, which was evidenced by a heavily over subscribed order book, has enabled Standard Life Canada to price competitively at the low end of its target range, thereby underlining the attractiveness of Standard Life Canada's credit, the strength of its recent performance and its future strategic direction. The Debentures will bear interest at a fixed rate of 3.938% for five years and thereafter at a rate of 2.1% over the three month CDOR. The Debentures have a legal final maturity of 21 September 2022. The proceeds from the debt issuance will initially be held in Canada for general corporate purposes and, subject to local regulatory approval, may be used to repay in whole or in part C$400m of existing internal subordinated debt to Standard Life plc. The Debentures are expected to be rated "A" by Standard & Poor's.

Anglo American Platinum Anglo American plc draws attention to an announcement issued by Anglo American Platinum Limited, the text of which is set out below: Anglo American Platinum update - Rustenburg operations to resume on Tuesday Anglo American Platinum Limited ("Anglo American Platinum") is providing an update on the suspension of Rustenburg Operations announced on 12 September 2012. The company took the swift decision to suspend operations in the Rustenburg area to protect the safety and security of its employees until such time as operations could be safely resumed. The situation in Rustenburg remains calm and our current intention is to resume operations on Tuesday morning, 18 September, which will provide time for the government to implement further security measures. As we expect it will be possible for our employees to return to work safely on Tuesday, the paid suspension period will end on Monday evening.

Outlook The Board is pleased with the Group's progress in the first half of 2012 showing continued momentum in new deal signings, including a record of eight significant new contracts signed. This continues a track record of solid growth and increased performance and demonstrates further success of the strategy adopted in late 2007. The Board is pleased to see the swift integration of the Navita and syseca acquisitions into Brady Energy and particularly pleased to see the business contributing three of the eight significant new licence deals and that one of them was a cross-sell of acquired product into an existing Brady customer. Following the substantial reorganisation in the Brady Energy business unit, the Group is expected to benefit from the reduced cost base going forward. In spite of the continued challenging business conditions, the Group expects further growth of the sales pipeline and to translate this pipeline into further new licence contracts. The Group's trading continues to be in line with the Board's expectations for the full year. There has been a revenue mix change is the first half of the year and the Group anticipates some correction to the levels of service work in relation to the increased deal-flow already signed and anticipated to be signed. The Group also expects to gain momentum in its transition from an up-front licence model to a rental model which is seen as preferred by customers. Overall, the Board believes that the ECTRM market remains attractive with good growth prospects. Brady has continued to increase its scale and believes there is a very attractive opportunity to further consolidate a fragmented marketplace and to generate more value for shareholders. The Group has been careful to spend the required time bedding in the new energy acquisitions but is now continuing to look for further opportunities to enhance its product offering and build on its customer base through selective acquisition.

Operational highlights Advanced Health & Care anticipates organic revenue growth of 18% from continued expansion of its core patient care management software. Strong progress was made in building partnerships with NHS 111 providers and Advanced is now the preferred supplier to more than 70% of the NHS 111 market. Growth in mobile solutions continues to accelerate, and the Group's target of 26,000 users of iNurse and iCare products by the year-end looks solidly achievable. Advanced Business Solutions expects organic revenue growth of 5%, with continued demand from the public sector for shared services, procurement, budgeting and forecasting solutions, as local authorities and other organisations invest in technology in order to reduce costs. The division's large customer base continues to be a fertile source of opportunity for Advanced 365's cloud-based offerings. Financial The Group expects to report first half results from continued operations with revenues up 20% (10% organically*) to no less than £56.7m (2011: £47.3m**), and adjusted EBITDA*** up 10% (8% organically*) to no less than £13.2m (2011: £12.0m**). Adjusted EBITDA*** margin is expected to be 23% following the acquisition in April 2012 of Fabric Technologies ("Fabric") for £4.6m and subsequent restructuring.
