Intertek, the testing and inspections firm, has paid £450m for Moody, a provider of quality and safety services to the global energy industry. The purchase of Haywards Heath-based Moody on a cash-free and debt-free basis will create “significant” benefits and opportunities, including pre-tax cost synergies of about £6m by the third full year of ownership.

BP Netherlands extends contract with HTEC Universe Group PLC (UNG.L) today makes the following announcement in respect of HTEC Limited, its principal operating subsidiary. HTEC, one of Europe's largest providers of payment and loyalty solutions for the petroleum retailing industry, announced today that it has signed an extension of its contract with BP Netherlands to continue provision of their loyalty engine and services for BP's FreeBees programme. Financial terms were not disclosed. The FreeBees loyalty programme has been active for twelve years, but continues to grow every year, both in terms of number of points redeemed, and new cardholders. HTEC offers a branded Commerce and Loyalty platform dedicated to organizations such as BP, looking to foster long-term relationships with their members, as well as helping to generate revenue.

Athena Field Final Development Well - Drilling Commenced Ithaca Energy Inc. (TSX VENTURE:IAE)(AIM:IAE) announces today that the Sedco 704 semi submersible drilling unit has commenced the drilling of the final production well for the development of the Athena field ("Athena"). Well 14/18b-A2 ("the well") is being drilled from the Athena drill centre and is the final well to be drilled of a 180 day campaign of drilling and completion activities. The well is planned to be directionally drilled to produce oil reserves lying in the north west of Athena. In addition, this well is planned to intersect the top reservoir (Top Scapa A sands) at a point within the appraised Athena oil pool and continue north, drilling at a high angle to provide valuable information relating to an area of the field targeted for future development. The drilling and completion of the well as a producer is scheduled to last approximately 80 days.

Inmarsat income swells Date: Monday 07 Mar 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - Profit rocketed 69% at satellite operator Inmarsat in 2010, though sales growth slowed in the fourth quarter. Profit before tax jumped to $333.5m from $196.9m in 2009 on revenue up 12.9% to $1.17bn, driven by growth of 6.5% in core mobile satellite communications services (MSS) revenues and by a second half contribution from a cooperation agreement with LightSquared. Aeronautical sales swelled by 33% to $101m following high usage of the group’s Swift 64 service by government customers for much of the year, although things returned to normal in the final quarter. Revenue in the last three months of the year rose 8.4% to $292.1m and earnings improved by 18.2% to $171.8m. Inmarsat expects growth in core MSS revenues for 2011 to be between 2% and 4%, with a weighting to the second half of the year due to tough comparisons with early 2010. The LightSquared should bring in $187m-207m of revenue, though operating costs will be about $20m. “While a slowdown in growth in the last quarter of 2010 and early 2011 has resulted from lower usage levels for some of our products, continued growth in new terminal activations and positive market reaction to our new services mean that we remain confident in future MSS growth prospects and in our 5-year growth target,” said chairman Andrew Sukawaty. ("Arcus"), the Board has held talks resulting in an indicative conditional offer for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of the Company, not already owned by Arcus, of 1,630 pence in cash per Forth Ports share (plus a final (or second interim) dividend to be paid by Forth Ports in respect of the year ended 31 December 2010 of 20 pence per share to be paid to Forth Ports' shareholders prior to completion of any offer). On the basis of this indicative proposal, the Board has agreed that Arcus can undertake certain confirmatory due diligence.
