Dixons ****hone Yields Nearly 7%
Dixons ****hone, the multinational electrical and telecommunications retailer and services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It was formed in August 2014 by the merger of Dixons Retail and ****hone Warehouse Group.
Shares in Dixons ****hone were trading at 160p per share at the time of writing the article, representing a fall of approximately 25% which seems extremely harsh. After the profits warning today, the shares would be trading on a P/E ratio of 6 if profits come in for next year at the new forecast of between 360 and 440 million pounds. Analysts had been forecast a profit of around 500 million pounds before today’s announcement. The shares now yield close to 7% which is a mouth watering figure.
At these levels, there are bound to be bargain hunters and predators lurking. The weak pound has hit profits and the impact from roaming legislation in the EU means that the company will take a hit of up to 40 million pounds
Seb James, the boss of the ****hone Warehouse and Currys PC World owner, was optimistic at the end of June when the company announced results. He told investors that Dixons had seen no signs of a slowdown in consumer spending as it reported a 10% rise in annual profits. It is baffling to hear this news today just weeks after what was said at the end of June. Has the market changed that much?
The shares are now trading at levels not seen for many years on concerns over a broad decline in U.K. consumer spending but the share price has factored a lot of bad news and the CEO was extremely bullish on the future only a few weeks ago. So today’s announcement is extremely baffling.
There are hopes that the new Apple iphone8 will give a boost to sales when the phone is launched in September but that certainly seems to be ignored by the market today judging by the sharp fall in the share price.
As Warren Buffett says “Buy when there is blood on the streets” – today, there seems to be plenty of blood!
